A Boeing 747 Large Cargo Freighter or 'Dreamlifter' has just flown south of Huddersfield at 39,000ft. I managed to get a fairly-decent view from Leeds through binocs despite the hazy skies. I've never seen one before so I'm quite chuffed. :yahoo:
Re: Air Band Radio Scanners
There'a a Uniden Bearcat EZI33xlt on Amazon for £60 which looks to be the best one you'd get for around that price. It replaces a 30xlt which has good reviews on Amazon.
A better aerial to replace the rubber duck would be a good investment too. They're around £10...
Re: Air Band Radio Scanners
Well I live up York Road just 15 mins walk from Leeds bus station, around 10 miles from LBA, and my £150 scanner (price included a £50 discount!) with an extendable aerial occasionally picks up approach, but not the tower. In fact as I type a Ryanair flight has flown...
I was standing behind a Ford at the cemetery on Saturday, as was the guy I described, and looking at a previous post by CL which gave his camera make and model, it looks same as the one that guy had, so I assume it is him.
There's also an old man who goes up there, wears a cap and carries a...
What sentence will these people get? Asbo? Caution? Six months suspended? Time to get tough - minimum 5 years inside.
Can't scientists come up with a screen of some kind that could be pulled down over the cockpit windows if required, that blocks out the laser spectrum light but still...
Anyone else think that the first picture under General Aviation, by Concorde Lover, looks like a toy plane? Something to do with the perspective on that shot that does it.
I've posted some pics from yesterday on the LBA gallery. Quite knackering cycling from Leeds, along Otley road through Woodhouse and Headingley, then through Tinshill and Cookridge and along bridleways over the railway bridge which brought me out onto Scotland Lane. Too many inclines. :s_sad...
I did, and when I checked the score, I was glad I did!
I went into the Multiflight area today for the first time, along that road. I'll be going there again as you can get great shots of the aircraft - although my camera didn't want to take pics of the PIA taking off, bloody thing :aggressive:
Great video Galaxy, I'm debating heading up to LBA today on the bike. But it's also the first day of the footie season (YAY!!), so I am torn between my love for the beautiful game and my beloved Liverpool (and having a bike ride around Leeds), or my love for aircraft (and a longer ride)...
Well I don't drive I go on the bus, but I can be recognised, as Galaxy said, by my huge binoculars, as well as scanner and silver camera, so if anyone from here sees me in the future come and say hello, I don't bite
And yes White Heather why not bring up the topic of a viewing area...
As Galaxy has said I was up at the cemetery today - nice to meet you :hatsoff: We were talking about some of the other forum members such as Lbaspotter and White Heather - little did we know she'd been nearby!
As for going in the cemetery itself, although it is a place of remembrance, it is...
The a321 has just landed, I watched it on the webcam. a319's/21's, MD83's, and the Flybe Embraer the other day, all making nice changes from the usual. Now if we could only get that elusive 777........
