So we had a 767 the other day? This follows the BA flight the other week, and with PIA maybe sending a 777 our way I have to say it's exciting times for our little international airport. Who knows, maybe sometime in the future we may even get a 747 back!
I watched the North West news reports Wednesday to see it coming and going from Man. Might pop down next week to see it, even though I saw Emirates and Singapore 380's at LHR Monday. Incidentally, according to Wiki five airlines now operate the 380 - Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Qantas, Air...
Thanks Aviador, I always have a great time at LHR it's the highlight of any trip to London. There were strong crosswinds for a while as you can tell from the Embraer pic. I bet some of the passengers thought they were gonna be landing on the grass!
Visited Heathrow Monday during my trip to London and I've posted some photos on the LHR photo forum, including the Emirates a380. Will upload a video of the Singapore Airlines a380 in a day or so.
If you want to get great views of landing/departing planes go to the land opposite The Airport pub. To get there follow the road past the pub over the railway bridge then turn right and go down the long road then turn right at the traffic lights, over the other railway bridge and turn into the...
I presume the reason the 380 isn't designated the same way as the others are, it's a 380 not 388 (380-800), is because the 800 is the only one in service? And also, even though it's a relatively new aircraft, everyone knows what a 380 is but may be confused if they saw 388!
Just watching it on the webcam. Looks strange amongst the usual gaggle of Jet2's! It must have come in on 32 as the ones leaving are flying out over Otley. Hopefully this will continue so I'll get to see it when it leaves.
Welcome aboard b747fan :hatsoff: Nice to have a 747 at LBIA! I too remember the wrecked aircraft when I used to visit as a young kid in the 80's. Nice to finally find out what it was.
Re: KLM cityhopper B.V
It's a difficult one isn't it? The government shouldn't pay though. I think the airlines should pay on this occasion and then simply state that they will not pay in future. Thankfully something like this has never happened to me - my views may be different though if it...
Re: Movements Log & Heads Up
Great news that! I'll have my camera ready. When was the last time BA graced us with their presence? Maybe we might get more if these strikes go ahead and shut down BAA airports. Just as long as it's not the bank holiday weekend as I'm going to London for a few days...
Just thought I'd let you all know that there's an airshow in Sunderland next Sat/Sun 10am-6pm both days. Visitors include a B-52, the Red Arrows, a Eurofighter, F-16's and a Harrier. Both days are FREE ENTRY!!! I have family in Hartlepool so I'm going up for the weekend, armed with binocs...
Re: Movements & Heads Up
With the money City have you'd have thought they'd have gotten Concorde back into service to fly them out!!
And with Utd's huge debt wouldn't Easyjet have been more appropriate?
Re: Movements & Heads Up
I've been to Man a fair few times and only once have I seen a 340 there, and that one just said 340 on it, not 340-600.
I was there yesterday and there was a birdstrike on a landing Qatar jet. I didn't see anything hit but heard it on my scanner. I watched as the...
Re: Movements Log & Heads Up
I've just seen it it flew over Weston estate in Otley and banked right over Weston woods. It had winglets on. Got a great view through my binocs. A few minutes previously a four engined plane flew over, saw it in the distance but it went into clouds before I got the...
I was just replying to Michael who was asking why Flybe flights between Leeds and Exeter are more expensive than between Manchester and Exeter and giving him the obvious answer. Perhaps if the airlines made prices from Leeds the same as those from Manchester or Heathrow they might get more...
I sometimes flew between Leeds and Heathrow on the BMI service and when it stopped I looked at flying from Manchester and was stunned to see it was a lot cheaper. Every day there were many flights for £32 yet from Leeds sometimes the cheapest was well over £50. Even Heathrow-Edinburgh was...
