Dear lord @Birmingham Aviation ...Lets try this again...
It's about time BHX spiced things up!!
So lets think about this. We're in the ACL Birmingham Slot Allocation Thread which listed a load of airlines looking to expand at BHX. Which airline maybe on that list which has been talked about...
What does blow my mind is the different between the Summer'25 and Winter'25/26 Schedules:
Summer'25
5x Based Aircraft
32x Routes
7x New Routes
138x Weekly Departures
49,500+ Weekly Seats*
Winter'25/26
5x Based Aircraft
32x Routes
7x New Routes
170x Weekly Departures
61,000+ Weekly Seats*
*...
Interesting to see Wizz apply for slots for 25x weekly departures when looking at February peak. they currently have 18x departures currently scheduled. Obviously this is not a guarantee the slots will be used but its clear wizz has some interest in growing from BHX
Well i think Play is pulling out of all connecting traffic and even pulling out of Northern European routes with a focus on leisure travel. i suspect routes such as LPL, DUB, STN are all at risk atm
Indeed. Manchester Airport leakage is near non-existent. Passangers either fly from Manchester either to a European or Middle East Hub, or from Heathrow, which is still captured as most will connect into Heathrow via the British Airways Shuttle. All this traffic is captured as Manchester...
Yeah, you seem to have spent too much time on table and very little time understanding how demand works. That table is "satisfied demand" flying between 2 airports. Unsurprisingly an airport with 3-4x the amounts of flights satisfies 3-4x the amount of demand. Flip the amount of capacity from...
Where on earth have you got "less than 20,000 pax a year" from? Air India carried nearly 140,000 Pax in 2024 from BHX!
Yes the current demand is dominated by VFR Traffic which has supported routes between BHX and both ATQ/DEL for decades. My points being - as stated in many of the above reasons...
Ok, so lets ignore the reasonable case I put forward, because you "don't see it"...
The largest country in the world
One of the fastest growing economies in the world at 7.2% - vastly outstripping most of the worlds developed countries
One of the largest growing and increasingly mobile middle...
I love these statements... made as if they are unchangeable truths or facts...
Demand is not constant, can evolved, shift and be generated... Evidence suggests there wasn't enough demand between Manchester and India to make a route viable, but now we have Indigo coming in!
When it comes to the...
Following the resent tension on the India and Pakistan borders, it seems this has had an impact on loads... with AI now pausing their BHX-ATQ Tuesday flights for the summer. Tuesday Flight is bookable from the 2nd Sept...
Until then we sit at 3x weekly BHX-DEL / 3x weekly BHX-ATQ
Cruise charters and i suspect MLB would have offered TUI a nice discount to get them to seal the deal. The consequence, TUI now pretty much unable to sell any space seats to members of the public wanting to fly to Florida as its miles away from everything else....
Yes, to be clear there is NO MASSIVE bond between BCFC and Delta. There is a basic/standard sponsorship deal and we have no reason to believe its anything else.
The value in the sponsorship is that it has now started a conversation. That has value in itself, but that is where the value ends...
A few things to comments on based on your post....
- Airports regularly "big-up" the potential of new routes as they attract attention. On the flip-side airlines rarely do. They normally are very secretive of new routes to stay competitive.
- I don't think anyone is suggesting that Deltas...
I'm so confused....
Complain when we dont have TATL flights, and then when airline shows an interest, try and discredit any suggestions, even when they are direct quotes from the airlines.
other than the airports and airlines in questions, none of use are anymore the wiser, we can only make...
Why is that? is it that crazy?
Look at other airports across Europe that are of a similar size to BHX that are not tourist destinations for comparison...
Dusseldorf (DUS): 20,040,193 pax - Seasonal Charter to MBJ Only
Budapest (BUD): 17,526,000 pax - No TATL Flights
Luton (LTN): 16,735,984 pax...
