I would agree with that, and add that as far as i can remember, from the changes made by the CAA about 3 years ago, 33 departures climb straight ahead to 4 miles out ( which is roughly over Spitfire Island, Castle Vale). They then make their ( mostly right ) turns if heading south.

Not in my long experience. Wardair a couple of times a week back in the 70's. Highland Express for a very short time, and diversions from Heathrow, which were mostly BOAC/BA.
What we have now is considerable to those days. I hope it continues.

I'm just pleased BHX has a much healthier cargo operation in recent times. I certainly didn't expect to see so many 747's as we do these days.
