The way I read the splurge originally was that MAI was handling the transition with FP Airports and that FP and CDC would eventually run the show through FlyDoncaster. However I was told by a former Director of FP airports who had an impressive aviation CV (now there's a thought!) that I had it...
It's supposed to be FP airports who were doing this - all very strange. The job spec. has been splattered about a number of Recruitment Agencies - I don't know whether you have had a look but they are wanting a very highly qualified person indeed and for sure there will not be many if any with...
This aircraft is a standard A321 and we have had lots of this model in and out - Monarch used to base them here and WIZZ amongst others operate them regularly in addition to the NEO. Doubt it would perform any differently to the others.
The valid point about financing the scanners was reinforced by an acquaintance I bumped into last week who supplies airports with certain high value articles essential for obtaining an airfield license for passenger flights - which Peel sold off. He is hopeful that he will be successful when...
In the very early days there were some occasions (not sure how many - but not many) when Jet 2 diverted in there. These folk probably didn't know DSA existed when the 'beast from the east' struck and it was SNOCLO for the best part of a week. I remember Wizz operated a few flights from LBA in...
I saw one an ITVx catch up where he was asked where the airport stood in his priorities. He answered it was a fundamental priority - it was supported by Government and they were talking to Government about more money!!! If that's the one you allude to I didn't get a vibe that he was back peddling.
I see that a 'news letter' including details of the UKReiif conference in Leeds has been issued by Dan Fell Doncaster Chamber of Commerce.. It includes a large section on the airspace and the text has been copied on the main campaign page. Either he has no idea of the reality of the CAA decision...
I wouldn't be surprised at all if that's the case initially, they will no doubt wriggle around it making a big thing of a 2Xcel return (who never actually left) if there are no holiday flights but the longer it goes on the harder it gets to keep everyone on board. Also the clock keeps ticking on...
With one of the MPs plus Mayor Jones et al saying the same thing, it is seems to my mind that this was a co-ordinated and disgraceful attempt to mislead but it does not alter the reality. Just digging an even deeper hole for themselves. Politics in Doncaster seems to be an unscrupulous...
If one reads the CAA review of that airspace, the link to which I believe @radar shared, it was very clear that having accepted Peels' vision of a very large number of movements with airspace to match they were never going to do the same again. As the 'Who' sang - 'We won't get fooled again'...
Clearly there is a misunderstanding of what this means and oddly, folk are still being encourage to sign the petition! One might assume that the previous airspace will now be removed from the AIP and 'new' airspace (still at Stage 1 on the Airspace Change Portal) will be designed by the Operator...
I would be surprised if there wasn't a requirement for a 'pilot report' to be submitted to the CAA - so we might get to know eventually.
According to the FR24 trace it was in the air for 8hrs 18mins. from departure Bagby to landing at LBA. It did a leg from Full Sutton to Bagby of 39 mins...
Yes it's correct. The Evektor Sports Star - whilst you are correct is classed as a microlite (600kg max weight) is actually approved for night operations if suitably equipped - which one assumes this one was. However - one suspects that there may be 'trouble at t'mill' over this incident and the...
Yes it circled Full Sutton fairly low level but not Bagby. As mentioned I am not aware of the lighting status at Full Sutton but clearly if they have them they did not activate hence the 'diversion' eventually to LBA. The whole thing seems very strange indeed at that time of night!
I think the en-route FR24 traces are fairly reliable even if the origin and destinations for GA are sometimes not. The trace has it flying up to the the northern tip of Scotland at varying altitudes, doing a 180 and flying back more or less the same route. Very weird! I know Bagby has lights...
Mr Coppard seems to have been pressured into a position where he cannot say no unless he is very brave indeed. What a large waste of money if he does - and a huge waste if he doesn't! Any Consultant of UK origin - to take your point - should already have a handle on the situation from an...
That to which they allude is just the same in Doncaster - the FBC hiding behind a wall of supposed commercial sensitivity which few are allowed to see! Must be somewhat difficult to vote on the 'main issue' of the airport when the business plan - which to my mind is the critical element - is not...
My personal view having had first hand experience with Consultants and their charges some years ago is that this figure, if correct, is very cheap indeed! Of course as you alluse to - depends on exactly what their remit is at the moment.
Not often I look on the Campaign site which to my mind is...
