Thought I would add to the BA topic! Found out today that a few representatives from BA are in Leeds on Friday 3rd December. Not sure whether or not they will be at the airport but could this be the signs of things to come or just a coincidence? Anyone else heard anything special happening...
Wawkrk your comments have not gone over the top of my head at all. Bridgepoint haven't invested as much as they should have done yet at LBA and I am fully aware of this but the plans that they have with the airport were never going to happen over night! What I was trying to get across was that...
I have to say I have found the airport to be no worse than it was a few years ago however, yes it does need expanding with improvements to bring it up to date but its no worse than many other airports in the UK. I think some of us are disapointed at the length of time it is taking to get the...
Re: Infrastructure Developments
Unfortunetly the use of air bridges is often down to the individual airlines. Low cost carriers are well known not for liking to use air bridges because of the length of time it adds to the turn around of the aircraft. Now that LBA has Jet 2, Ryanair, Flybe and...
Re: KLM cityhopper B.V
Good news. Very surprised we still haven't had an upgrade especially on the night stopping aircraft as the first rotation from LBA is often full. Maybe if we have another bad winter with low visibilty we'll start to see the Embraer! Wishful thinking.
Didn't Thomson manage to get the 767 direct from LBA to Barbados even without the addition of the winglets? I'm sure they did. Shame a couple of the flights aren't being operated by TCX like last year to give us a bit of variety.
Before the new stands were built Jet 2 always used to night park a 737 on one of the taxiways so we know that is possible but obviously not very appealing to an airline unless there is something in it for them!
Hopefully we'll see some plans for the improvements to the terminal soon but will...
Talking of shortages of apron space for the parking of aircraft that night stop at LBA would it be possible to park aircraft outside Multiflight after off loading passengers and baggage until more apron space can be created?
Could LBA give a discount to the likes of Jet 2 / Ryanair or even...
Re: verdict on LBA!!
Welcome back to the UK Pinkheart. I hope you had a good holiday.
All your comments like Aviador has said are very accurate of the current conditions at LBA but at least our local airport still offers mainly a good overall experience. Lets just now hope that the building...
There are quite a lot of Yorkshire folk who have second homes in IOM and it is a popular walking destination. I am sure a larger and more well known airline could do better than Manx 2 although from memory there have been quite a few opperators on this route. Knight Air, British Airways...
Re: Potential Routes
Good to hear that you have heard similar things to me Chitty. I started a thread a couple of weeks ago on Easyjet seriously looking at LBA on here but it was removed only after a few hours! :shok:
From what I have heard Easyjet are seriously looking at an LBA base...
Is this a route that Flybe could be possibly be interested in?? I'm sure they would do a better job of it although I'm sure it would have to be only served once daily as I'm sure they couldn't fill two Dash 8's each day!
Is this something that White Heather could enquire about at the next...
