Good day out and great weather Ray, and all I did all day was tidy my kids rooms, and cook dinner...and did the washing up and ironing. It was mothering sunday, but thanks for the snaps.
Love the Emirates on final taxi with the Turkish looming in the background.
Must check out the Sheldon end...
There is a competition issue here. BAA was broken up as it monopolised the London and Scotland airport system. Now MAG is beginning to do the same. Good luck to them, but if it starts to harm fair competition, then at some point the regulators will take note.
Having said that, BHX seems to be...
I think USA growth is unlikely until things settle down over there. I think Turkey will seriously drop off and routes could be lost if their President wins the referendum and has supreme power....in both instances I am being diplomatic.
Hopefully growth will move to Italy, always under served...
I agree coathanger. The airport can only expand within the limits of its physical capacity, and whilst we all want rapid growth and a return to peak levels or more on all routes, if the airport cannot cope physically, then any growth will be snuffed out. PK is no doubt on the case, but with the...
Welcome James. You have come to the right place. I am just an amateur on here, but there are people with so much history and knowledge of airports and the passion runs deep.
Good luck.
Any news on the Arch of Triumph? BMI blue and white mixes with red and white of the Austrian flag?
Good to have BMI back at Birmingham. With a seasonal rerun of BA the clock has been wound back to accommodate our growth.
Blimey. For many airports having a route destination map like that would be a very impressive achievement. To think that such a network merely details new routes in one year is beyond impressive.
However it is very south orientated and it would be great to see more scandinavian routes. Maybe...
I am sure bhx is excellent, but whereas in the UK a new terminal is a once in a blue moon and only after all possible reconfigurations have been tried to bursting point, here...that is alicante...they obviously thought stuff this let's go for it. Build a terminal that can handle 20 million with...
Flew into Alicante yesterday...from Southend. Have to say Alicante puts UK terminals to shame. Excellent. Airy, spacious and easy way finding. When BHX goes for its next terminal it should do the same. Cannot keep bolting on bits and pieces the the existing terminal. Needs to think beyond that...
Thanks for the (amusing) news article, Ian. I agree with Ray, here we go again...with I assume rumours about China. I am more excited about closer to home prospects and other far east destinations.
Excellent figures. Long may the growth continue. I think Madrid has been top of the destination growth in just about every month. Proves that there are historically undeserved or unnerved destinations, as Madrid once was, which can be a real git in the Midlands...airlines take note.
13 million...
Ray. The red and blue at Lisbon is something. Tough one to beat, but with all the new routes plenty of chances to try something new and win back our crown. Maybe using three tenders at once!
Matt995 the KS for posting the article. Good to see. Shame given all the recent press on the UK's transport misery that the media have been silent on an impressive achievement.
But well done to all at BHX and the airlines for doing so well. Best in the world, eh?
