Just read that Ryanair creating 3500 new jobs and adding 50 new aircraft. Includes 1000 new pilots. Wonder how many will be UK based given their post Brexit statements that they may reduce UK based services?
New Michelin Guide out today. Great to see a star to the Peel restaurant right under the BHX glide path get a star at Hampton Manor, Solihull.
Still have 5 stars, plus the new one in Solihull. Yummy.
Question is what airport related food could Peel serve? A 'BAC of Lamb'
Go Birmingham. I hope the bid is adventurous and exciting. It needs to be transformational and not some temporary stands thrown up here and there. Think big. Think long term.
Mayoral candidate Sion Simon's has spoken today of expanding BHX as a priority. Birmingham post website... Sorry link not copying on my phone today.
As for the announcement on the 100 million investment, this is a huge vote of confidence. Deals with immediate problems and lays a decent...
My apologies to Ray and all, but I mentioned 'second city' sometime yesterday, albeit in reference to Chicago not brum. The point being that as such an important city, it will be great have it back on our schedules. Never thought the debate would follow. Anyway according to Mark Steel and...
Could not agree more. Unstandably given that he was the MP for Tatton, Osbourne was too northern powerhouse focussed. I get the impression we will get a fairer deal now.
Hope Mr Kehoe brings back some goodies for us. It will be great to us get America's 'second city' back on the arrivals and...
The Business Secretary in Chicago at the moment promoting the Midlands Engine. First stop in the States to do so... Will it lead to a return to ORD?

Thanks for the report Aceshogh. It is written by someone who is acting as a consultancy to the investors behind Gatwick. What I call a pinch of salt report. No doubting the conclusions, but not worth the paper it is written on. A true risk assessment for the expansion of LHR would run into a...
Wow. Some great pictures. Love the flybe congestion shot from Elmdon74. Brum" a Norwegian taken from a Norwegian. Cool. Hopefully a more common sight shortly.
I remember the pull out when the new terminal opened. I kept it for years. Even had the picture on my wall at one point. At that time the new terminal was so impressive. Two storeys with the wonderful atrium. Airbridges for the first time! It was a very exciting period in the airports...
Great photos, Simon. Thanks for sharing. Great to see such variety.
Looking at the remote ramp and imagining a remote pier, as once proposed. Would be awesome.
Don't get it. Why did the Flybe plane land at BHX? It had to circle for an hour and dump fuel. In that time it could have got to its destination at Manchester. Does BHX have an emergency status, like stansted does for hijackings? Glad it made a safe landing though.
I agree with that quote from the Spectator. One of Birmingham's great features is that it does not crow on about how bloody brilliant it thinks it is. We get on with our lives and move Forward. Always have done. Always will.
