Agreed, it’s not just about gaining new airlines and routes but retaining existing services. This could have been another one on the list of lost services.
Admittedly @LBA4EVER is right in that it’s not the most exciting
I suspect they’re more likely to test the waters with more guaranteed routes first, so bucket and spade might well be the next ones we see?
If they gamble on a nice to have but speculative route it could backfire!?
Leeds Bradford Airport is a bit restrictive, we need to reference the wider community.
I propose Greater Area Leeds Bradford Airport (GALBA) just to shove two fingers up at certain people
Am I right in thinking that different countries will have different restrictions as well? E.g. restrictions due terrain might limit capabilities in one country versus in another country? So there might be a greater appetite for risk in Greece (purely an example) as opposed to the UK?
So not just...
I’m not doubting your knowledge (most likely far greater than mine). But the whole conversation has gone on a tangent talking about Jet2 jumping ship to Doncaster, based solely on speculation based upon your information (and that of a couple of others).
You’re not alone in thinking there seems to be some scaremongering going on here based on assumptions.

I would think that legally, a continuous period of ten years with sporadic breaches over that time will suffice. Short of breaching every single night then you will never have a continuous period. I hope I’m making sense….
Which if I am, would imply the airport are being punished for not...
Humour was never consigned to the LBA General thread - indeed your jokes are probably universally appreciated and enjoyed!
I think it was just when a thread got taken over with dozens of puns one after the other which took a thread off track.
Back on topic…..let’s hope these rumours come true...
There is an article in today’s T&A, with the usual comments. One such person complaining, lives under the flight path and is disturbed by night flights, but contradicts himself (or her or they/them) by saying ‘when arriving at 3:30 for my 6am flight to Dublin, I was shocked planes were still...
The negative voice is always the loudest unfortunately, and with added nastiness even more so.
I do hope that you are fully aware of the appreciation we all have for your information, knowledge and passion for the airport.
But insults aside - I also think Bob O’Job (I can think of other things...
Regardless of the practicalities you’ve done a great job there, and whilst it might not be spot on it does show how much land there is to be played with and a rough idea of the potential.
The CAT3 thing interests me, as there are airports the world over with stands and taxiways as close as shown...
