There are so many views to consider with this @TheLocalYokel .
From an airport perspective, the way they make money; planes landing, ancillary revenue. The more people flying the better, regardless of destination.
Long haul flights however usually have a higher proportion of high spending pax...
Also, if China sent some supplies, in theory what kind of aircraft could they arrive on? Do they have Tupolev aircraft? Or would it be likely a Boeing variant? I have little to no knowledge of freighters to be honest
Out of interest, if Wales did find a way to acquire supplies from a foreign government or company, would NHS Wales still be entitled to it's fair share of UK Gov supplies? Seemed silly not to go looking for more if the UK one is pretty much guaranteed.
Not so much conspiring as collaborating, which is always a good thing!
From a forum specific angle, the Welsh gov striking international agreements and bolstering its diplomatic abilities will always be a good thing for CWL... After all it was forging such links that brought QR to the airport...
The Welsh First Minister and opposition leader collaborating to cut deals with foreign governments in order to stop the UK government intercepting supplies for Wales and allocating them to Public Health England is actually an incredible scenario.
I cant help but feel like the fallout of this is going to be the make or break of the airport. Just like the explosion of low cost airlines and online booking systems shaking up the industry in the early 00's, there's an enormous opportunity as well as danger for CWL. If the management can be...
You're not wrong actually! I just looked on the loganair website myself and the prices are great! I was sent the prices by my sister and I have no idea what she searched on skyscanner to come up with those prices, must have been via DOH or something
As great as the route to Edinburgh continuing is, I've looked for my flights for 3 months in advance and its coming out as £300-400 per person return.
I know Loganair have a lesser frequency and smaller aircraft, but that price is gutting for someone who needs the route and used to be able to...
As far as Dublin is concerned, surely FR would be the only real option. 1x daily return on their 189 seat 737 is just under 138k seats for sale. I haven't got the time right now to work out/ find 2019's figures but for 2018 on Wiki it's just under 108k... Which would surely increase when the FR...
To be fair though, Manchester is the destination people would be travelling to, not the airport itself. There are direct, frequent trains to Manchester from Cardiff.
Welsh Conservatives Release Five Point Plan For Cardiff Airport
The welsh Conservatives have published their 5 point plan for the airport if they were to form a Government in the Senedd. Interestingly it mainly consists of things they slate the current Welsh Gov for doing, such as investing in...
This does make one wonder what would happen in the case of a total BE collapse.
Would it be legal or possible for virgin to simply create a phoenix company and purchase the assets at a liquidation price and take on a smaller number of planes without any of Flybe's commitments to smaller...
I just wanted to say quickly that there has been some really impressive analysis on this topic in the above posts, far above any Wales Online write ups on the airport.
The admission that Jet2 aren't interested in flying from Wales at the moment is no surprise giving their consolation at...
Interesting to note that Kuoni are there. I have had their 2020 brochure and every destination package that they've used Qatar for, they give an option of London, Birmingham, Manchester or Edinburgh.
