Hi Kevin Sorry yes your right it is supposed to be twice a week not 3 times. Some of the changing days when TF-WFF went tech confused things.
No I was talking generally LH cargo completely seperate and no connection with HKG.
I think cargo carrying has changed over the years . Gone are the narrowbodied DC-8s B707s on long haul which couldn't take much in their bellies.Which meant more dedicated freighters.
Now you can get a lot in bellies of 787s,A330, A350 77Ws which reduces some cargo only demand especially with...
Well everything going east from BHX past Turkey long haul are widebodies.
That's for a reason, huge demand from BHX going that way.
Going west we even get an Air Transat narrowbody A321N.
So the money long haul from Birmingham in passengers and belly cargo is eastbound. So yes if required they...
It's not down to the length it's down to the wheel gauge spacing.
You beat me to it Kevin
The 777-300ER that Emirates use into BHX is about the same length as A346 so its not the length of the plane, but the gauge and turning circle.
As Kevin says if the 779X does have an issue, BHX would...
Singapore 52 an A350 en-route to Manchester diverted into EMA this morning.
I had thought at one stage it was heading on diversion to BHX but alas.
Suppose EMA Is a MAG group airport.
I cannot think of a single Singapore Airlines plane that has diverted into BHX in at least the last 25yrs.
Heathrow was quite staggering, and only 2 planes diverted away ,despite cross winds up to 55 mph ! Above most airlines limits which I think are 42-50mph ?
I suppose having a much longer runway than any other UK civil airport helps them massively.
Good BHX only lost 1, but wind was down not...
As well as Eurowings BHX..I noted five Vuelings also unable to get into LGW due wind diverted into Paris.
I wonder at what stage, if at all, airport ATC get involved calling conditions too dangerous for planes to attempt landing .Or is it all down to the airlines and pilots to call it too...
It wasn't the travel agent. When we phoned Princess Cruises it was they that specified their policy on flt pick ups and hotels we would have to use on arrival in Vancouver and later Anchorage.
The Travel agent then just followed the policies set out by Princess.
We then enquired about picking...
Certainly for us we didn't really have a choice of UK airports to Alaska. We have a cruise then inland stay with Princess Cruises.
The flights allocated to Vancouver to pick up the Cruise ship then from Anchorage to Seattle and back home were only covered from /to Heathrow.Airlines BA and...
We did Australia with a one stop via Hong Kong, our CX flt from LGW got delayed and we almost missed our connecting flt.
We have said never ever again If we go to NZ which we are pondering.Next time we will do a hotel stop over both ways .Over 24 hrs without sleep killed us.
We have flown...
They will certainly use the 779X into BHX.As it will be highest capacity airliner available for EK.
Even then, it won't get near the 2 class A380 capacity with 615 seats they operate regulary full into BHX currently.
So may go 3 daily to make up the difference.Few years off though yet.
Same...
I don't think airport stupidity comes into it. What an airport may think are advanced talks may not result in any new services.
Let's not forget BHX released a press update to the media well before Covid , saying they were in "advanced talks" with Air Baltic in relation to flights to Riga ,and...
Noted this week that now the 20s remotes have been reconfigured and reopened, that stands 1-7 join stand 8C,L,R as being fenced off.
This will be the final of the recent 3 phases to realign southern apron stands for Jet 2.
Should result in 13 stands around Eurohub all capable of taking A321s...
Heavy snow and freezing rain caused chaos at airports in central Europe last few days.
A UPS B747 diverted from Cologne to EMA yesterday for that reason.
I think also BHX would need a service with good onward connections once in New York.
For me, Primera was always going to fail ,getting into JFK very late at night, with virtually no onward connections available.
We would need a reliable airline operating at good times from BHX with good...
