Qatar have suspended BHX along with a few other destinations. Doubt we’ll be seeing them back here anytime soon.

If QR aren’t going to increase frequency then an upgrade to the 789 would seem the logical choice to increase capacity at BHX. If yield is an issue then I don’t think throwing a premium heavy 77W on the route would be a good move.

I’m not sure we ever did, I think Monarch took over the route after bmibaby ceased operations - I don’t think they overlapped but might be wrong. Ryanair seem to be having a spat with French airports at the moment - otherwise I could have seen them launching Marseille in response.

We also stayed in Stoupa, lovely little place - being the end of the season the resort was winding down but the weather was great and we spent most of the week soaking up the sun on Kalogria beach.
Agreed, although after flying through Kalamata Airport last week BHX looked positively immaculate. Certainly wouldn’t want to experience a long delay there!
The runway extension was sold on the idea that it would open possibilities to the west coast of the USA, further into Asia and the far east. As already discussed, direct flights to Australia weren’t ever promised as back then even LHR didn’t have a non stop service.
