I mentioned the A380 as an example of something that the runway extension has brought.
We had Amritsar and Delhi prior to the extension too.

I think you misunderstood my comment. I meant since the runway extension.
I'll give you Saudia, Qatar and the A380 but Turkmenistan was already there as was Air India.
The other things on that list, as mentioned, could have easily handled the old runway. 747s too.

When the runway extension opened 11 years ago there was so much talk of flights to the West Coast and Far East Asia.
11 years on, how much has actually changed? I think it's fair that people are a bit peeved.
I've been trying to get them to look at converting the old terminal - they've said they've had some external interest with regards to repurposing it (based on some email conversations I've had) but nothing since.
I emailed Andrew Pelham (Aviation Development Manager) about this, just expressing some thoughts. Here's what he said:
