Melbourne Airport passenger performance October 2022 The number of passengers using Melbourne Airport continues to increase as international airlines add more capacity amid strong demand from travellers. A total of 2,570,990 passengers passed through the airport’s four terminals in October, the highest monthly figure since the start of the pandemic. The figure represents 78% of the 3,305,457 passengers recorded in October 2019, with international travellers at 65% of pre-pandemic levels and domestic travel at 83%. Royal Schiphol Group to significantly expand number of electric charging points in coming years Royal Schiphol Group will install up to 10,000 new charging stations for electric vehicles by 2030, spread across the various Royal Schiphol Group airports. Charging stations are key to achieving emission-free airports by 2030. As part of this, all vehicles will be electric: from ground handling to hotel shuttles and everything in between. Road and parking bays made from recycled plastic at Schiphol Schiphol now has a section of road and several parking bays made from recycled plastic. Schiphol, PlasticRoad, PreZero and VolkerWessels Infra Schiphol collaborated to construct the road and parking bays - located close to the Kaagbaan Tunnel - using waste plastic from the airport. At the end of the year, another section of plastic road surface will be laid next to one of the runways. The two locations are part of a pilot to see if this system will be a good alternative to standard asphalt and concrete roads in the future as well improving water drainaige and buffering. Higher wages, better rosters and improved rest areas for security staff at Schiphol Talks between Schiphol, the unions FNV and CNV and security companies have led to a negotiated agreement on a new social package to structurally improve the terms and conditions of employment at the airport. The aim is to attract more security staff and thus contribute to more comfort and shorter queues for passengers.
