Cancellation

BRS website showing todays' Aer Lingus Regional (Stobart) EI3281 to Dublin at 0830 as cancelled. The inbound EI3280 at 0800 is shown as 'landed' - expected arrival 0754. BRS never shows the actual landing time.

How can it be "landed" - expected arrival 07.54? If it has landed, it's not expected any more!

That's how the BRS arrivals website page works. They show the scheduled arrival time, then (usually) the expected arrival time then finally 'landed' after it has arrived. The expected arrival time remains displayed for the rest of the day.

The departures page just shows scheduled departure time and then 'departed' after the aircraft has left. Prior to departure the page usually shows things like 'Check-in Desks' (with numbers shown); 'Boarding'; 'Final Boarding'; 'Flight Closed'.

The website never shows the actual arrival or departure times.

It must be a night mare for any one picking up any body from flights. If they put landing times on the boards it would make life so much better .

easyJet EZY6189 to Pisa at 1130 and return EZY6190 at 1635 cancelled according to BRS website arrivals/departures.

All the former flybmi flights are displayed again but not the Loganair ABZ service.

Furthermore, the departure page only lists one departure after 1650 although it shows all the return flights that obviously went out during the teatime/early evening period.

It must be a worry if they cant sort out the arrival/departure boards as they are fairly basic stuff. Now if there was a problem with computer systems in the control tower then that's a completely different story as that has to be sorted quickly and correctly. The control tower computer systems must be a higher tech than the arrival boards. If the same team maintain computers in tower then why can they not sort out the flight information boards properly. My guess would be cost.

The airport has still not fully restored their computer systems after the cyber attack last year.

They have tried to revamp all their IT but it appears they are not doing a good job of it. Many functionalities have not been recovered and the abysmal display boards are a symptom of it.

I dread this summer.

The website departures page only shows around two thirds of departures today when measured against their arrivals page. There are still a couple of flybmi arrivals and departures as well.

If the IT is as unreliable as this they might as well close down the arrivals and departure pages until they can sort the thing out, or is that not possible either?

Over the past few months I have seen about 10 staff members from the Indian sub continent who I have not seen before. I guess they are the IT contractors employed to sort this out. From the grapevine I hear that they are not very optimistic of sorting it before the summer. They would have been better off paying the ransom as rumoured was done by some NHS trusts and Gatwick last year.

The timings of the Arrivals are live times taken from automated(GPS) ATC information. The information is usually pretty accurate from when the flight is about 1.5hours away from BRS up to final approach times. So although the column states 'expected' arrival time, once its landed you can be pretty sure that the time shown is pretty accurate to the landed time.
Other Airports dont have this technology so rely on accurate timings sent by the origin Airport, an update radio call to the handlers en route or an ATC that is willing to update the time, however it isn't always their responsibility to update flight info screen times, only approach/landing times.
It's worth noting that the arrivals screens within the terminal are more informative.

KLM Cityhopper KL1049 from Amsterdam at 0830 and return KL1050 at 0900 both cancelled.

bad weather in AMS. High winds. There is a possibility of more flights cancelled any where in Europe for the next few days as well.
Schipol seems to get more weather problems than Lulsgate.

Ryanair FR8122 from Malaga due 0930 shown as 'diverted' (FR24 says to BHX). The return FR8121 to Malaga at 0955 is shown as 'by road'.

TUI TOM760 to Enfidha at 1000 and return TOM761 at 1720 are both shown as cancelled. What happened there? TUI and TCX usually get their aircraft away somehow even if it entails delays.

BRS website shows easyJet EZY6347 to Seville at 1705 cancelled on the departures page. The return EZY6348 due BRS at 2300 has no comment against it on the arrivals page.

However, FR24 shows the outbound departed at 1721 and the return is estimating a 2258 arrival. FR24 radar shows easyJet A320 G-EZOM from Seville to Bristol currently approaching the South Devon coast near Salcombe.

This seems to be the latest of so many howlers on the BRS website arrivals and departures pages. Does any member of the supervisory staff there monitor the pages?

The day after another posted that on twitter that the screens had been working properly again, another post on twitter suggested they were down again and that the screens were in the process of being upgraded. Jacqui Mills posted a promise to show the screens working but it’s seems it lasted less than 24hrs.

TOM6633 CMF>BRS yesterday was delayed by over five hours. Was this a technical issue with the aircraft? Looking at FR24 it is an Exeter-based aircraft operating a W pattern. No info on the first EXT>CMF sector, but had arrived back at EXT on time the day before. The final BRS outbound leg and the return to EXT yesterday were diverted to Lyon.

Maybe weather was poor at CMF, hence the divert to LYS...... don’t know if this was the case but would account for it if not technical.

The system is working fine I’m mystified by the continual moaning that it’s not! All the screens were ok in the departure lounge at 6pm when I was in there They were also now working on the belts in the arrivals hall when I left at 1am Maybe CMF had a few staffing problems so flights had to go to LYS!! Unfortunately there are many reasons for flights being cancelled or diverted & they’re not always simply because of issues with crewing If a crew member goes sick down route or even gets an injury the flight can’t operate

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
