Cardiff security issues Sunday 18th January
On the social media platform X someone flying from Cardiff posted a rant about security at Cardiff and how slow and ridiculous it was.
In my opinion it’s a bit ridiculous to have 5 lanes and only use 1 and when I’ve been at Cardiff theres been 8-10...
I read this on the Wales Online article about the new route.
Obviously we know Wales Online are sometimes biased to hate Cardiff Airport but it would be interesting to see how much has been sent to Westjet or what financial offers they’ve been given (marketing, ground fees, route subsidy) to...
Totally right.
I just think some mis-communication may have occurred between Westjet and Cardiff of when they announce it and someone put it on the route map ahead of time.
2025 and the world we live in proves secrets never remain secret for long and it’s amazing to get trans Atlantic...
I’m not disputing anything, it’s good and we all knew it was coming just we didn’t know what airline it was going to be.
I’m only putting forward the brief I was given that Cardiff were desperate for it to be a headline surprise grabber news session. Still it will be big news but not the full...
Well I was briefed that Cardiff airport wanted to not see it on social media or any speculation before the official announcement.
Obviously westjet maybe ahead of themselves and forgot or the map was updated ahead of time
I think we all knew this for a while and Cardiff airport had tried its best to keep it a secret until the official announcement but it seems it’s been leaked beforehand again.
Once again it seems the CEO’s words have been different from Jet2, they said after Luton and Bournemouth last year no more bases for a while and it seems LGW is the next.
It just seems they are after TUI’s bases now which can only mean a matter of time until we see them at Cardiff.
Hopefully...
I did remember Cardiff airport did some teasers for that but YES it was leaked on Facebook but also by TUI’s timetable change on Saturday which indicated the new route.
Just proves how hard it is to keep stuff a secret these days with social media leaks
I never knew that, proves how young I was then. Also it needs to be handled in the correct way and I think journalism has evolved to check the stories before the share them nowadays.
Was there any other cases of leaks that pipped Cardiff to the announcement?
Well, that’s what I said about I was briefed that Cardiff wanted it to be a secret with no posts online for at least the next 2 weeks which indicates they are confident that the news will be good and a shock for us all.
Does anyone know? No which is what makes it amazing this week. We all like...
I’m just sceptical about Ryanair and the UK operations at the moment as APD has not changed and with the budget coming, it may go up and FR CEO has been critical of this as a factor for less growth.
Despite this there was that long haul route that was supposedly signed off and deal complete...
To also add, the max 8 has new safety features and training required since the grounding so maybe TUI hasn’t trained them all at Cardiff and so the major bases have them. Possibly due to incentives for more environmentally friendly aircraft in already busy airfields.
As you say it’s only a...
What’s more annoying is that I saw on X that Cork has had a third daily flight back for Winter 25/26 so slots excuse is clearly just a stalling tactic if more airports are getting more
