Looks like LBA might struggle to break 4m pax this year the way things are going, unless someone increases capacity to alternative destinations to offset all these lost Turkey passengers. You have to wonder if Turkey will ever become quite as popular again?

It would be cheaper and less disruptive to build a runway extension on stilts at the Horsforth end, similar to that at Funchal even if it did mean a CPO for a number of properties on Arran Drive, but it wont ever happen. The benefits still dont justify the cost and probably never will. Nor...

This afternoon's Ryanair flight to Faro, scheduled for 1600hrs on a MAX, is cancelled. We appear to have 3 x MAXs based currently judging by this morning's early departures as all 3 were MAX operated.

Whatever was ailing G-GDFO, appears to have been cured, for now at least, as FO did the Split rotation this morning and is scheduled to do the Malaga this afternoon.

No doubt it , and Preveza, will replace flights on a route where frequency is being reduced. Maybe Turkey. Unless of course we are gaining an aircraft. We now have 4 'new' routes and the aircraft operating them must be coming from somewhere. So, is it other routes being reduced or an...

Definitely regrooved after the incident. I suspect that the extension was done when built and the original 1965 runway re-grooved after the Tristar incident. The Tristar of course didnt touch the extension so was reliant on what was entirely the original runway.

Birmingham's runway is stepped and higher ar one end snd also the same direction as LBA with the same crosswinds. Obviously, it's a good bit longer now, but that wasn't the case before it was extended. When you look around, LBA might not be ideal, but there are loads of runways that are far more...
