Saw this interesting development courtesy of Yeadon City Councillors FB page. Seems LBA are about to make an application to amend a legacy planning permission rather than making a fresh application (with all the public scrutiny that would bring) I wonder if this route means the likes of GALBA or...
I believe the landside team is 3 staff. When I started working at LBA about 18 years ago, the airside team was 4 strong. Then reduced to 2 and eventually none with the roles going to Airside ops. The airfield looked a lot better when there was a permanent team doing the work. Check out the weed...
Airfield groundsmen were got rid of long ago! In recent years its been Airfield Ops that have done most of the emergency repairs, sometimes assisted by AGL engineers. It's also Ops that now do the grass cutting.
Used the train today to go from Glasshoughton to Bradford via Leeds. Whilst checking the Leeds departures online, I noticed that Leeds Bradford Airport was on the departures page. Apparently CrossCountry run a regular train service to LBA! What gives?
see here, it will probably show you the...
I use an ad blocker extension in Chrome (AdBlock) for all my browsing. This site has a warning when I open it but I just ignore it and carry on and free. Worse still are the newspapers such as Telegraph & Argus. Another trick is to switch off JavaScript which sometimes stops the ad scrip from...
CT scanners are still x-rays, (I think it stands for Computed Topography or similar, Google is your friend!) just that a computer is used to produce a 3d image from the x ray imager. as opposed to the old 2d x-ray image.
My view on accessibility is that LBA is not served well by public transport. As an example, I arrived there on Saturday from Girona. Flight was easily on time, no queue at customs and hand baggage only so straight out to the bus stop. That's where it stopped. Had to wait 38 minutes for the next...
Thanks for the info GolfFox, I didn't know some microlights could be approved for night flying. Just to add to the muddle I looked up Full Sutton and Bagby. Neither are licensed, Full Sutton says no lights and op. hours are 0800 until 1700 (though their website is ancient). Bagby says closes at...
I'm presuming the aircraft registration, quoted earlier in this thread, is correct. Definitely is a microlight. Please refer to the CAA aircraft register.
The greyed out area also contains a large electrical distribution room and another area houses the airport telephone exchange. The exchange is ancient and long over due replacement so will probably go soon. The electrical stuff includes the main connection to the outside world and switch gear...
Just had a quick look at the LBA website. The image there does show some coloured panels at the Western end of the new building so at least that might break up the austere look ( https://www.leedsbradfordairport.co.uk/regen ). Yellow and grey are still the official colours, website uses that...
