For those who like a bit of 'tenuous link conjecture', one of the people who 'liked' Chris Bosworth's post on LinkedIn about his new role at CWL is Jon Davies, who describes himself as "Founder, Owner and Chief Vision Officer of Avooma Airlines." https://flyavooma.com/ - Avooma merged in 2024 with beregional, the latest attempt at re-launching FlyBE and talks about flying regional routes within the UK.

There seems to be a lot of concern on Pprune over European Cargo operations at Teesside, which have apparently been paused due to fuel shortage in China. Some of the posters on Prune seem to have their doubts this is the true reason, and are suggesting that Europeans' stay at Teesside may be short lived. I did read many months ago, that a poster at Bournemouth stated that they owed a lot of money to the airport, but how true that was I don't know.

European Cargo has contracted Jaymac Solutions for their warehousing needs. A warehouse is starting to be built at Teesside Airport for their operations.

Are European Cargo paying for that though or is it Teesside Airport/Teesside Mayor?

From what I understand is that Jaymac Solutions has acquired a 1.8 acre site at the airport to provide warehousing in a multi million pound deal with European Cargo.

So from the sounds of the press release:
Two A340 aircraft operational base created.
European Cargo entered a multi million pound deal with Jaymac Solutions.
Jaymac Solutions has taken on a long term ground lease from the airport.
Jaymac Solutions is building the warehouse.
Jaymac Solutions say theiir investment into the site.
The airport hub will see the company deal with the initial five flights a week which will bring in around 375 tonnes of freight.
Airport says they are delighted to welcome Jaymac Solutions investment into the airport.

So from the sounds of it there is more to come from European at Teesside.

Its a shame they're not doing something similar at Cardiff

I wouldn't be counting any chickens on anything just at the moment. Far too much political uncertainty to guarantee anything.

But without being overly negative, if this does come off then any aviation industry positives right here and now should be embraced/welcomed, whichever airport gets them

IMO cargo at CWL is another reason that the WG should look again at running a Pendoylan bypass road from J34 of the M4 to Sycamore Cross. The current HGV route to the M4 from the airport takes lorries through St Nicholas - hardly ideal - and Culverhouse Cross is just awful, especially to any drivers who are not used to it. The queue to get on at J33 is slow most of the time as well.

Unfortunately too much opposition to it even from the local Labour MS.

According to a post on Cardiff Airport News, Spotting and Supporters group its possible a Saudi Cargo 777 will arrive at 8am and depart to Jeddah around 11am tomorrow.

It's possible this is the aircraft in question but we'll have to wait and see Screenshot_20260527_075308_Flightradar24.jpg

The new non executive director Chris Bosworth may have used his contacts to get the Saudi cargo flight into CWS yesterday, let's hope the companies involved found it to be a worthwhile experience, with a view to a regular cargo route in the future.

Swissport are in charge of the cargo now so that may well have helped as well. The cargo that was delivered was loaded straight onto Evri trucks.
Fingers crossed we'll see it more regularly.

We heard it was a one-off "test" cargo flight which may (or may not) open up future flights.

I think it unlikely. Much more likely to be a one off operation. I believe they no longer even have regular flights to London. Their usual destinations are HKG, SZX, CAN, LGG, AMS, FRA, NBO….plus regular one off operations to various destinations of which the CWL is likely one. Still, a bit of variety is nice.

With Cargo operations, it's not the Airlines they need to win over. Its the retailers. They need to know they can fill the aircraft and get it in the right place for distribution. There will be an abundance of cargo operations they can take a space on. Trying to fill an entire aircraft to a new airport will be a tough slog.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
