I’m not sure how it is competent to allow people to travel daily to use/work “no essential” shops in the centre of Cardiff (I went in yesterday and the train from where I live high originated in the valleys was busy) is fine and there could be hundreds of Welsh people travelling from Wales to...

Mathers you are right. FR have been flying ex UK for several weeks now. BA have been flying to US destinations and Europe throughout. If people want to take a risk (es in Europe where there are EHIC cards) that’s up to them. We don’t currently live in a Nanny state......

It’s a nonsense -how do the WG know who from Wales is travelling the other way to fly from BRS ? Am sure not helpful to the overall relationship to call for this 3 days before they are due to depart.....the WG seem to be on an economic suicide mission in general.....

FR must be seeing some good demand ex CWL - the flight I am planning to take to AGP has gone from £20.99 to £228.99 in just over a week!

SF - so do you think CWL can work for someone ? LM ? FR ?

Concerning EXT if the catchment is slightly more affluent perhaps they were less price sensitive to U2 at BRS, hence higher yields......

If the deal really was on an 18% of total income with BE then the CWL management team must surely have a breakdown by route and fares at least. They can share (or choose not) to share this with other operators ?

As CWL is seen as a bucket and spade airport, did FAO perform ? If crew and maintenance were major cost factors, could a non based operator with the right aircraft make it work ? Why did they carry on after closing the base ? Was it contractual ?

I am taking the plunge the air ridge will be announced on Monday 29/6 as trailed. Going until end July anyway. The flights are changeable for free. I am on list of quarantine exemptions anyway.

and wasn’t that the whole point of Project Blackbird - to cover the costs of the E190 leases. It does beg the question though why they added more capacity outside the scope of the original Blackbird deal ? But then again the root cause of the demise of BE was some poor business decisions. I...

    TUi Airways

Hi Em - they already cancelled once and I got the 20% - this is the revised booking. So who knows what they will offer now. Looks like first 3 airports are LGW, MAN and BHX. Will FR operate as we are desperate to get away and now looking at Algarve.

    Cardiff Airport - General Thread

I don’t have it in for the management team and yes they have been successful (with WG support in attracting QR and 4 years ago BE) but I just would like to hear some more forward thinking strategic initiatives to reduce losses and attract more business (whatever that looks like) rather than...
