The negative speculation in CWL in this forum is unnecessary. While we all know CWL often struggles, can we at least remain positive or not comment at all about what might happen? Everyone is entitled to their opinion but negative speculation saying a route will likely be dropped when it is...
There's a reply to a Twitter post that EDI is closing too. Just to be clear it's a random reply to the original post so could just be rumour.
This could really go any way...
NCL aircraft relocated to EDI
EDI close and CWL route lost or worked in another way
Aircraft relocated to CWL to a new...
It's down to the Travel Agents what holidays they want to sell. Thomson/First Choice travel agents in South Wales had previously been instructed by head office to push Bristol Airport holidays. It's nothing to do with Airports themselves, as it's the Tour Operators business, unless of course the...
If we lived in a country where Aviation was spread out and not privatised then that may work. But we don't, Airlines are private companies all competing with each other. If Easyjet decide they are going to spread their market between BHX and SOU, another Airline will just come in and take their...
I don't believe the WG were in discussions with Qatar Airways. I got the impression it was a joint venture between CWL and QR, and WG & the Qatari Government over promoting Wales, separate to the Aviation deal. It just appeared on the surface that it was a joint venture with Qatar Airways.
I'm...
While this is true, it also opens up the option of BRS being used with an aircraft suitable for the airfield. CWL's selling point is the ability to handle larger aircraft and cargo.
There are already regular flights to Istanbul from BRS which will no doubt peak TK's interest.
TUI operate quite a few flights from Bristol to Kittila and Rovaniemi. Looks like 14 just this December.
Santas Lapland operate 4 flights in Dec 2025 and 3 flights in Dec 2026, with CWL only getting 1 in Dec 25 and 1 in Dec 2026 and Canterbury operate some departures using Jet2 but I don't...
There was a post recently on linkedin about the completion of a new stand and new gate area. I can't find the original post now but it seemed to be on the Western end.
The long term aspiration is for a half hourly train between Cardiff and Bridgend (via Barry) which would make the train more attractive. The increase would benefit the whole Vale of Glamorgan, as well as the Airport.
The issue surrounding the T9 is that it only benefitted the Airport, and even...
A based 737-800 doing 2 return flights a day, year round, accounts for about 276k seats. So there would need to be something significant to reach 1.6m again.
Yeah, 950k might be a push as well but depends how additional charters go. I don't think the 6 nations was a big year for numbers.
2026 might see that 1m mark though.
For 2025 these are the seats on sale by Route and airline. Number of flights based on return flights.
Total seats on sale for scheduled and charter flights (Excluding additional sports charters unless scheduled services by FR, EI and LG) - 1,059,092 seats
Ryanair - Total 236,628 seats (Based on...
I didnt suggest not giving incentives.
The suggestion was to incentivise bigger, more fuel efficient aircraft, but the airlines that operate from CWL would only provide bigger aircraft that would equate to a small amount of seats per flight. CWL paying for that wouldn't get much return...
That should be the standard, but every airport probably wants that. It shouldn't be high on the priorities for a financially struggling airport to be paying extra for though as there would be very little gain of revenue and passenger numbers.
It also would only make a difference in numbers if...
It would probably vary by route, but not sure it should be incentivised by CWL unless they see considerable return from the investment, which is unlikely.
Amsterdam - focus should be in increased frequency. I doubt the E2 would make a difference to the cost of a ticket.
Dublin - 737-800 is...
Comparing other Airports figures, many larger Airports have seen a decline in passenger numbers to AMS in Mar 24 vs 23.
LGW (-20,373)
BHX (-4447)
LHR (-3169)
BRS (-523)
CWL (-2859)
SOU saw an increase of about 3000 passengers but they also now have EZY and KLM on the route. Total passengers of...
