There is no loco Brussels at BHX though, not sure if there ever was for a sustained period of time...
There is both at MAN though and maybe at other UK airports with a big loco focus. Personally I'd rather have a route like that served by a full service airline with a hub there as it creates...
Does that include Charleroi though? What about the number of seats per year rather than routes? Remember Ryanair flights are going to be more per rotation than SN due to much larger capacity aircraft.
Going back to the 80s here but I think this bar was a called "the Aviator" , any idea is this is correct?
Also there used to be a full scale model of a vintage aeroplane in the main terminal, Bleriot's cross channel plane maybe?
Maybe it's not my place to say but personally I think it is logical and useful to make comparisons with MAN as the 2 cities are very close in size and demographic.
I hope we are not going to go down the same route as the MAN forum where mention of BHX is verboten.
When we are talking about EU traffic, MEPs and alike I can't see them travelling Ryanair, I think they would always choose SN if it was available, or possibly even travel our of their region for a full service flight.
It's not always just about PAX, SN may also have been receiving an EU subsidy...
There was surely a lot more Brussels traffic than you give credit for with grants of EU money to various projects.
The people mover between BHX and Birmingham International was paid for with a grant from the EU, however it was build and installed by a German company.
The EU plaque is still...
I remember flying SN a few times on BAe 146 but they don't have anything of that size now. They also experimented with the Sukhoi Superjet, which they no longer use, I assume at least partly due to the Russian embargo.
As such it might also be partly equipment related.
Good post, I agree on budget carriers, more European destinations are now covered direct and these were the ones that SN used to offer some competitive connections.
You pays your money you takes yer choice. Most flyers, even in business, prefer direct on a budget carrier to 1 stop full service...
I've used used Brussels Airlines in the past, it used to be a good budget connection to Euro services with an easy airport to transit through. Brussels is also an underated city break destination, particularly if you like beer, chocolate or chips.
When frequency drops to below 2 per day in it...
I've reworded my answer here taking on board comments from the MODs about what is and isn't acceptable.
Given that you aren't able to provide any proof of the CEOs comments and neither can I, not for the want of trying, I'm going to disregard that part of your post.
I also take on board that...
TBF you kind of made the point and proved it in your first post.
By that I mean I gave you the benefit of the doubt first time around as it wasn't clear to me whether you were rebuking gulf traveller or standing up for them.
Regarding taking myself (or trying to, as you put it) seriously, and...
I'm happy for gulftraveller to post but if you are going to quote an external source you need to be able to back it up, otherwise it's just hearsay.
I think in this situation the onus is on him to stop posting or provide the link, not on everyone else to stop discussing the subject as he judges...
I did reference it in my earlier post, which was a response to your post but I can see how this got missed as I didn't name the individuals only the routes team.
If you look back at my post I provided a link to an interview with someone from Changi Airport saying they were actively looking at eastern seaboard America destinations. This is the kind of evidence I would have expected you to provide about the CEO axing 5th freedoms.
I also supplied record...
Provide a link to source please.
Do you expect SQ to get rid of SIN-MAN-HOU? Or the very popular FRA-JFK link? SQ makes good money out of some 5th freedoms and they are unable to offer alternatives due to geography and the limitiations of modern long haul wide body aircraft.
There was a big...
This article has been reported elsewhere about Singapore Airlines' amibitions for route expansions on Eastern seaboard America. (at the bottom of the article).

I guess here we are talking about unconnected...
@David-itl
I took you up on that point on this MAN forum and the idea that people in Birmingham were comfortable with growing BHX by getting overflow traffic from LHR so upset so many people they got me banned from commenting on the MAN Route Rumour thread ever again.
At the end of the day I...
TBH, given that reduced immigration from Eastern Europe was sold as one of the key objectives of Brexit you can't be surprised that some of those routes have topped out and are now dropping off a bit, although interestingly, Romania is still growing.
You could read into that anyway that...
Don't want to labour it I think we are probably on the same page here on most of this but I would say that London is a major (which may even undersate it a bit) international draw for business and tourism.
I think Birmingham has a competitive offer for inward business vs London, and Manchester...
Refreshingly no-one has put this down to Brexit.
Are these markets not now just reaching the maximum number of seats for demand, such that passengers have a good enough choice to gravitate to their local airports?
Wizz are now operating A321neos configured to 239 seats, which is now...
