I think the middle east connection might be sooner than a US link, even ignoring the last weeks events in the US. I’m under no doubt, like you, that is going to seriously harm inbound tourism and business in the US.

Just to reiterate, significant snowfall is subjective. LBA had significantly heavier snow falling over a much longer period as well. So whilst Man were clearing 1-2 inches snow it was raining. Whilst LBA were clearing 6 inches of snow it was continuing to snow. Completely different scenarios.

Quite right, I watched the stream at Manchester from early doors. I reckon they had maybe an inch or two tops (the grass was still visible). It was also raining from before 10am, whilst LBA had 6/7 inches and was still falling til lunchtime. It’s madness to compare the two and to criticise LBA...

The forecasts are indicating a significant change mid morning

Around 4:15-5:00 there was what i can only describe as a biblical downpour with very strong winds just kicked up out of nowhere in Halifax. If it was coming from the west i guess it’s entirely possible it was avoiding a weather front?

Those are the kind of departures that will help with overcrowding, though. And offer a different option - for example some families prefer to travel on an evening (little ones falling asleep). The more variety the better!

Agreed, it’s not just about gaining new airlines and routes but retaining existing services. This could have been another one on the list of lost services. Admittedly @LBA4EVER is right in that it’s not the most exciting
