Subject to gaining planning permission from Selby District Council apparently

Lol, agreed, but I couldn't imagine my boss paying for us all to abandon a direct 90 minute, 100 quid flight from MAN for a more time-consuming, scenic route from LBA!
Went with 20 work colleagues from North and West Yorkshire to a conference in Oslo last Tuesday, and back Sunday. Needless to say we all had to trek over the hills for our SAS flight. 737/800 full to capacity out and return. Very good value at £100 return. Couldn't help but think that SAS...
Sunday papers were full of stories speculating about Easyjet making a bid for Monarch. So we may yet see more Easyjet flights from LBA, but sadly at the expense of Monarch
Just booked Aer Lingus business from LBA to JFK for later in the year. The same dates with KLM were 80% more expensive and BA was 60% more expensive. Even the direct flights from MAN couldn't compete on price, or come even close. In fact Delta from MAN was exactly double the Aer Lingus price...
I constantly bemoan the lack of direct flights to Scandinavia. Last year I used Avios points to fly to Stockholm with BA from LBA via LHR. But this year it was a no brainer to book with SAS from MAN for a direct flight to Oslo in August. £102 return. No other route came close for price or...
As a non aviation expert, could somebody please explain to me the advantage of the BA codeshare with Aer Lingus, for me as a passenger flying from LBA? Thanks!
I notice in the latest figures published for railway station usage last year (ORR) that the passenger numbers using Durham Tees Valley airport station actually quadrupled from the previous year. So with that kind of growth going on elsewhere there must be hope of a rail link for LBA. Admittedly...
Precisely Ap1995. Get the right destinations with good prices and good timings, and people will drive anywhere within reason. I have also used all the northern airports over the years as well as LGW, LHR, STN. I will always try to use LBA as a first choice on principle, but it isn't always possible.
We talk a lot about accessibility issues but nowhere is far from anywhere in this country. The big deciding factor for many people is choice of destination, flight times and cost. Getting to the airport is often a minor consideration. Whether I drive 70 minutes to LBA or 95 minutes to Man makes...
Sadly I drove over the hills this week for a half term visit to Venice as the Jet2 flights from LBA were hugely more expensive than Monarch from Man. The Ryanair flight from LBA was very competitive but I can't stand TSF so always avoid it.
I have to say Monarch were superb both ways - quick...
I counted just over 100 pax on last nights flight from LHR. The service was over 30 mins late owing to a delay inbound to LHR from Oslo. It's the first time I haven't used the airbridge on that service, so it was novel to see the business suits struggling down the windy steps and ramming on to...
The terminal was heaving this morning with queues for the FRA check-in desks stretching right around the hall. Thankfully, the BA check-in desks were well staffed. Security was hugely efficient though with all the channels open. Big police presence both landside and airside - more than I've ever...
BA1341 to LHR was busy this morning. I counted approx 120 pax. Although we were 30 minutes late departing owing to the inbound service being held at LHR for offloading luggage of no shows, we flew straight in with no holding, and so were only a few minutes later than scheduled. Now in T5...
Pleased to hear that Flybe may be planning NQY. I used the Air Southwest services a lot when doing business in Devon/Cornwall. No other mode of transport could get close in terms of time or cost in those days.
The only time we used DSA we were astonished to have to queue outside in the pouring rain for passport control. Ours was the only plane landing that evening. We said we'd never go back following our total drenching. May even reconsider returning if they build a shelter!
Interesting piece in today's Yorkshire Post about the new £56 million link road to DSA being started, and Steve Gill the airport's MD quoted as saying, "Our airline partners are impressed with the ambition and drive behind this new road".
I know the road is part of a wider regeneration scheme...
