Re: Aer Lingus (Stobart Air)

Good news to report that the new Aer Lingus Regional / Stobart Air Cork to Leeds/Bradford flights are now bookable online at www.aerlingus.com with the route commencing from Tuesday, March 15th 2016.
It looks like all the press releases from yesterday are wrong though. As flights will operate 3 weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Not as stated yesterday on Sundays. Flight timetable is as follows.

Tuesdays
EI3760 = ORK 10:40 - LBA 12:10 / EI3761 = LBA 12:35 – ORK 14:10
Thursdays
EI3760 = ORK 15:10 - LBA 16:40 / EI3761 = LBA 17:05 – ORK 18:40
Saturdays
EI3760 = ORK 11:10 - LBA 12:40 / EI3761 = LBA 13:05 – ORK 14:40

Re: Aer Lingus (Stobart Air)

Heard rumours of the easy to Belfast on other forums. Maybe this the "other routes" before xmas?

Re: Aer Lingus (Stobart Air)

Well if that happens (Easyjet to Belfast) you have to wonder how much longer Flybe will remain on the Belfast City route as their numbers would be certain to be reduced. I have to say though I would swap Easyjet for Flybe any day.

Re: Aer Lingus (Stobart Air)

As Flybe flies in excess of 30+ regional routes in the British Isles and Easyjet mid teens, I hope the big boys will allow them some cream, unless we are going to find our ability to get about in the u.k. curtailed.
IF the new business plan in place from late 2014 does not work for Flybe, no other way forward.
I think Flybe have the ability to expand their u.k. routes and frequency, as Stobart showing with Cork/LBA a market for these regional routes.

Re: Aer Lingus (Stobart Air)

i too think flybe have the ability to expand there uk routes its just a pity some of expansion was from L.B.A.and not doncaster,if doncaster is a success for them i wonder if our belfast will go to doncaster,you only have to look at our a/deen service with them,new big base at man goodbye LBA a/deen put extra on from man.

Re: Aer Lingus (Stobart Air)

I must admit that if Easyjet did come in on Belfast, it would give Flybe a convenient excuse to move it down to Donny where one of their based aircraft could do it.

Re: Aer Lingus (Stobart Air)

I doubt Flybe would give up on the Belfast City route without a fight as I am sure it makes them plenty of money. Would Easyjet operate to Aldergrove or City? If it is Aldergrove, there remains a real demand for the City airport as was shown when Jet2 flew to Aldergrove. If Flybe did move down to Doncaster, I would be very surprised if that route to Belfast would do as well as it has from LBA. The route has been tried before, and failed before.

Personally, if Flybe are not going to operate the domestic routes out of LBA, then I would welcome in any airline who will do, and Flybe can go expand somewhere else. They are no use to LBA if they don't fly from here, and they have already spurned various opportunities to expand here, as did Jersey European before them.

I'm guessing you mean the peak summer 3rd Friday afternoon flight that was introduced last year for a few months? Like you say Ap1995 it looks to have dissappeared from the Aer Lingus booking system but is still showing on there timetable page.

Re: Aer Lingus (Stobart Air)

I received an email from LBA earlier today that highlighted what was going on this year. The email, of course, mentioned the new Cork route but, in the same segment, stated that Aer Lingus fly to Dublin "up to twice daily". The third rotation appears to have been canned.

Re: Aer Lingus (Stobart Air)

Finding the Cork route not that useful (for business) as until a daily route makes a trip too long...

Re: Aer Lingus (Stobart Air)

As reported elsewhere in the forum, BA are to offer code share on Aer Lingus flights between Dublin and Leeds Bradford airport.

They didn't take long as Aer Lingus flights between Dublin - Leeds/Bradford are now on sale using the British Airways website.

Here's the codeshare flight number tie ups for the service

MON,TUE,WED,THU,FRI,SAT
EI3390/BA8910 DUB – LBA
EI3391/BA8911 LBA – DUB
SUN
EI3392/BA8912 DUB – LBA
EI3393/BA8913 LBA – DUB
MON,TUE,WED,THU,FRI & SUN
EI3394/BA8914 DUB – LBA
EI3395/BA8915 LBA – DUB

Wonder how long it will be until we see either Aer Lingus or British Airways codeshare on the Vueling Leeds - Barcelona route?

Do Vuelling code share on LHR-LBA? Might be useful if they did.

Yeah Vueling flight connections do show on the British Airways website using the London Heathrow route along with Iberia. But they don't show Leeds bookable Via Heathrow using BA on either the Spanish airlines websites for some reason.

As a non aviation expert, could somebody please explain to me the advantage of the BA codeshare with Aer Lingus, for me as a passenger flying from LBA? Thanks!

For one, it's bookable on both the Aer Lingus website as well as the British Airways website, so the flight gets better exposure to the market.

So to the flying public it's like having British Airways flights to both London Heathrow and Dublin from Leeds Bradford instead of just London Heathrow.

Code sharing is one airline operating a flight allowing other airlines to sell tickets in their name on the same flight.
This basically opens up the choice of carrier you can take on some routes. You can often find on say London to new york BA and American airlines in the same code share group can have as much as £400 difference in price.
If your in a frequent flyer programme it can have advantages.
Disadvantage is although if a problem you can claim of either your carrier or the actual operator of the plane, I have fond it better to persue your ticket issuing carrier.
If your doing multiple trips say going round the world, getting all tickets from carriers in the same code sharing group an advantage.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
