The document makes a big deal about how it will help with unauthorised off-site car parking :ROFLMAO: (although there may something to it of course if this allowed them to add lower-cost car parking options).
Also, if I'm reading this right, they're not asking for it to be built before work on...
Wondered the same when I read that comment, but point-to-point with such a large aircraft, without onwards connections? Must be fairly low frequency then?
It's an unfortunate name for an airline, not very distinctive. I am also constantly being spammed by Air France with special long-haul offers which are advertised under a 'WOW deals' brand ..
I don't mind paying a quid to quickly drop off or pick up someone, but these new charges simply leave me speechless. I'd love to know what they were thinking. The only way to sell this is to at least make the first 10 minutes (ie. simple drop-off/pick-up) free in my opinion. It's not going to...
There was an article in Politico.eu last week that talked about BRU operating at reduced capacity "with 125 less departing flights than normal per day".
There's a story with a few close-up renders on the ITV website and of course the Airport's website with a high-level overview and a link to a fly-through video (click on The big picture').
Thanks for the link. The article states that the steel frame has been completed, but it looks nothing like on the image from the masterplan on the airport website in scale.
Maybe also depends on whether they looked at return fares or single fares: if I remember correctly the flyer wants £10 for a return, and £8 for a single from the centre.
Thanks YL. Just to satisfy my own curiosity I went and compared passenger numbers to Manchester and Edinburgh, taking CAA data from January 2015:
BRS:
Brussels 3 969
Amsterdam 25 648
=> Belgium = 15% of Netherlands
MAN:
Brussels 13 316
Charleroi 12 420
Amsterdam 58 065
Eindhoven 4 387
=>...
Was on the last flight back from BRU to BRS on Friday and caught a glimpse of the computer screens at the gate which said that 33 out of the 39 pax on that flight were transfer passengers. Which I find quite surprising. Maybe it's just the time of day or a one-off, but you'd think that the whole...
Re: WOWAir
Excellent news, although cheap fares seem to be few and far between, especially for destinations other than Boston the single leg often costs more than a BA return flight if booked now!
Very nice promotion on their website though, even if they seem to have trouble locating Bristol...
I vaguely remember that it was deemed fine as long as some vehicle accompanies the movement to make sure there are no problems. Don't remember the source for that, I'm sure it's been mentioned in this forum though.
Regarding Ryanair, there's an article ("The towns transformed by budget airlines") on the BBC website which contains the following sentence (my emphasis):
This only mentions Girona, but the reason given is very specific, and if true that would be a general "problem" I suppose and might perhaps...
Interesting, I wonder what the reasons for that were - operational, technical, commercial. (Other than that the platforms are not long enough).
The Ashton Vale to Temple Meads MetroBus FAQ claims that the airport expects the route to be used by around 5 flyers per hour. That would be one every...
I don't know whether the A38 is really a problem. In general traffic flows just fine in my experience, at least once you get outside the built-up area. The last few metres up the hill are often a bit stop-and-go nowadays, but that's it. I read a claim somewhere once that airport traffic only...
When I first read this I thought they put up a machine that serves free coffee/tea at the gate and thought 'nice', but on second reading it sounds like they just redesigned the existing waiting area at the gate a little and added a (for-pay) vending machine? Free wifi was already available...
Nor did I see anything but the usual 13.30 and 17.30 flights on the departure board in Dublin earlier today, for what it's worth. The 13.30 flight was full though (ATR-72).
