Media portray Leeds Bradford airport unfairly.

https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/business/leeds-bradford-airport-new-era-as-ps100m-terminal-expansion-work-to-start-this-autumn-4372870 The illustration looks slightly different to things I've seen before (a bit less ugly?).

    Road, Rail & Access Issues

You really think they'd have built a HS2 extension on a brand new dedicated line as you describe?

    Road, Rail & Access Issues

Two things here though... How long would a HS train to London via Manchester and then Birmingham take? 63 mins Manc to London via HS2. Add a 5 minute stop at Manc. Then HS3 estimated best time was 33 mins Leeds to Manc. So that's 1h 41. Hardly a huge benefit to Leeds Vs 2h trip today (and...

Did we ever get clarity on what level of annual passenger numbers this extension will allow for?

    Road, Rail & Access Issues

I'd not pin too many hopes on the train... Park and Ride arrangement rather than direct link means a typical journey will be: Wait for shuttle bus Lift all luggage on 5 min shuttle bus journey Lift all luggage off Walk all luggage to platform Wait 5 mins for train Lift all luggage on to train...

Airport Consultative Committee [Questions & Responses]

Seems pretty unsatisfactory re the "fixed" airbridge that you'd go down the steps from the plane only to immediately go up the steps to the bridge... I appreciate not many airlines use them these days but it's hardly a great first impression to walk in to a bodge fixed airbridge done on the...

Airport Consultative Committee [Questions & Responses]

Great update thanks WH! And good news to see progress at long last. However I seem to recall the proposal was a very ugly, Industrial shedlike design with few windows unfortunately? Kudos also to GALBA for ensuring the airport expands in a less eco-friendly way (Vs the carbon neutral brand new...

    Leeds Bradford - General Thread

Late to the party but has the sale of the airport by AMP been picked up here (presumably it has)... Mentioned on skyscrapercity forum

Anyone care to point our marvellous local Labour MPs to this?

I think he's chosen his words very carefully there... He's not said he wants current proposals approved in full?

    Future Infrastructure Developments

So at this stage there are three main hurdles left to clear? 1) call in within the next week by Jenrick 2) approval separately by Jenrick for development on Greenbelt (more of a formality?) 3) judicial review request via Galba etc

    Future Infrastructure Developments

Good work as always thanks WH... Did mine a while back. Is the 30 days confirmed within the process or your best guess? Surprisingly swift for this country! Wonder when the result would be due...

    Future Infrastructure Developments

By my limited understanding this does not require a further vote. However the airport has to meet/agree the three conditions before it is approved?

    Future Infrastructure Developments

Taxi rank I can see the logic, the price of the official taxis is extortionate and this should lower prices for customers (albeit make taxis more attractive relative to public transport so a bit hypocritical). Will cost the airport since presumably they won't get such a cut, but on balance it's...

Airport Consultative Committee [Questions & Responses]

Was it clear WH if the panel will have to vote on what is agreed by the Planning Officer? Seemed to be what was suggested by the Panel? That could take a couple of months to come around allowing time for negotiation etc.

    Future Infrastructure Developments

Don't think I'll celebrate until planning officially granted (ie conditions agreed with council and approval from govt re greenbelt). But this is certainly excellent news and a huge hurdle out the way. Then comes the moment of truth... Will the owners stump up the cash.

    Future Infrastructure Developments

They need to agree conditions and then bring back to another plans meeting to confirm on those. Presumably that's a couple of months. Then called in to govt for approval presumably 6 months minimum? Then sign contracts with builders etc. A year if we are lucky to start construction?
