    easyJet

I’d imagine Wizz are likely to blink first, the way they cut routes it probably wouldn’t have lasted long anyway. I’d argue that Rome is a much stronger tourist draw than Madrid so hopefully Jet2, EasyJet and Ryanair can all coexist.

I remember a few years back that Rome was completely unserved and had been for a very long time - we had to fly from MAN in 2012 as there was no direct flights. If I remember correctly Monarch began serving FCO and when they collapsed Jet2 took up the route. Crazy to think that in less than...

First new route for 2027 - although is this a resumption? I can’t remember if they operated Bergerac before or am I getting mixed up with La Rochelle? Either way nice to see some regional France back on offer.

What are you listening to now? MKII

Classical music generally isn’t my thing but I do enjoy the movie soundtrack show, I think John Williams basically wrote the theme tune to my childhood with all the films I grew up watching. I do tune into Classic FM now and again over the Christmas period though.

    ACL Birmingham Slot Allocation

I’m fully expecting EZY to add Rome next year although it’ll be another example of a route jumping to four carriers in quick succession. I doubt Summer 26 will be anything groundbreaking - Zante is the obvious Greek island missing, Ibiza for the Balearics and perhaps Paphos to round off Cyprus...

Exactly, anywhere with nightclubs is an instant no for me! Just as long as there are a few good restaurants and a nice quiet bar where you can get a decent Mojito then I’m happy!

TUI Nordic & Netherlands, Transavia, Neos, Eurowings and others already serve Karpathos so like you say definitely an opportunity.

Looks like Jet2 are going to have every little of corner of Greece covered which is great to see. I wonder if they’ll ever take a look at Karpathos? I don’t think a U.K. tour operator has ever flown there but I gather the number of people visiting is increasing. It’s pretty much the last big...

Maersk playing catch up? There’s a 767 and a 777 on the tarmac at the moment.

    Route Development & Rumours

I really don’t understand the obsession with Austrian, as already stated they’ve reduced MAN to summer seasonal now so no chance of them resuming BHX anytime soon. I think Lufthansa group are more than happy for the traffic to go through FRA and MUC. If we are talking recapturing lost airlines...

    Ryanair

Seems to have gone under the radar but SeanM has tweeted that Ryanair have added Rome-Ciampino - three weekly (Wed/Sat/Sun) from 26 October. Quite a quick lead in time so no doubt a response to Wizz’s new route from Fuimicino. That’s three carriers serving Rome now which is great to see. Are...

Believe the reason for no 747-8s is the same reason for no A346 - because of their length and the position of the wheels they can’t negotiate some of the taxiways.

    Birmingham Airport - General Thread

As many seem to be of the opinion that BHX is an expensive airport to fly from I thought I’d share that members of my family (six in total) are flying Emirates from BHX next week as the fares were £150 cheaper than MAN. They live in Stoke on Trent so MAN is usually their default departure point...

    Birmingham Airport - General Thread

Agree with other comments in that security was a massive improvement on last year - we were through in about 15 minutes although admittedly it wasn’t at peak time but still very busy. The place is still a building site though and I honestly couldn’t see what had been done since last summer -...
