There will still be widebody capable stands on pier C which will be used by parked aircraft during the morning / afternoon, as happens now.
There simply isn’t enough adequate space for additional stands on pier C, even without airbridges. Some of the airbridge’s are rusting now so hopefully they...
I know nothing about construction, but as heavy aircraft were parked on these apron areas for years on end and now we see cracks on buildings upon these areas, then the foundations are either crap and/or the ground is now failing?!
Doesn’t sound good! This probably coincides with the state of the walls featuring cracks in the corridor en route to pier 1!
Am I correcting in saying that where pier is located, this was a remote apron area? And where the corridor to pier 1 stands, was the end of T2 legacy?
There is more...
Interesting ref Pier C becoming part of T2, how will that work if not directly linked to T2, as in how will passengers be transferred to these gates?
Glad Pier C is getting a refresh if staying open, long overdue!
I assume the lack of refurbishing of certain areas of T2 (example legacy baggage...
A separate domestic/CTA facility should have been arranged before the TP or during the planning preparation, with a route through to the baggage reclaim next to the exit for the domestic arrivals, this biometrics set up is a backwards steps from what I can see!
Indeed, it's only Easyjet overnight now in T1! And as you say, it's a good set up and works well.
I just hope MAN have enough buses and drivers for that matter! Especially come next summer when all airlines except Ryanair will be in T2!
Yes, as Pier B has been painted in black from the outside...
What is the idea of this new arrivals procedure in terms of biometrics? Is this a new government requirement or something MAG have decided to introduce for these type of flights? It seems quite a faff, especially considering the current set up in T3 works well.
If the rumours are true and...
Thanks for the update as always.
Shame pier 2 opening had to slip again due to a failed pavement on a new taxiway! But these things happen I suppose.
Good news ref airline transfers in September, didn’t think that would happen until November at the earliest, so obviously with Aer Lingus moving...
Thanks for the info.
I see November-Charlie is closed until end of September according to the NOTAM, is this for creation of new stands? Will these stands have safedock installed or will a taxiway still be use here when the stands are not occupied?
@CCGE29 has this work on pier B now been completed?
It’s good that management are making an effort on the appearance of the pier if it’s still going to be used.
On the subject of line painting, I think the lines and stand numbers at the T3 area need a freshen up too!
Departed through T3 yesterday, arrived around 1.30pm, as I only had hand luggage, I went through the door nearest to the escalator, security was fairly busy but quick and through in 10 mins!
Lots of rejected trays though, one lane was 35%! Totally unacceptable really!
Terminal very busy, mid...
@MKY661 yes, the arrivals level. Especially on the west facing side, we arrived back from Kos in June on stand 6 or 8 and entered into a narrow corridor, turned left to go up the steps and then the walk to immigration, it was like stepping back in time!
I just hope Ryanair won’t be using this...
Interesting…so used as in boarding and de-boarding within pier B?
So Pier B will become part of T3?
Do you have a link? Last time I was there about 18 months ago, yes it was bright, but needs a lot of work doing inside! Especially the arrivals at ground level!
Arrived this morning into T3 at 10.15am on stand 53, no other arrivals so very quiet and straight through passport control, but it’s so dark in that area with those advertisements of the university blocking any daylight! I can understand why they are located there, but it’s just so dark!
There...
For the majority of CTA and domestic arrivals, bussing will be required anyway and as stated earlier in the thread by @CCGE29 the future plan for domestics is to enter the terminal via the VCC building, which will have a separate route into the domestic baggage hall and then a separate UK...
Ah yes, sorry! I was getting confused between CTA and domestic arrivals.
Good question then, although last time I was in pier 1 there were a lot of the gates with the biometrics installed, so I would think departures would certainly take place from the “normal” gates/stands.
You would expect...
Not sure then, but my understanding was at the moment the Gurnsey flight into T2 uses the same route as the international arrivals just with a separate lane at immigration to bypass passport control.
