I went through Venice and my bag was sidelined because of a snow globe for my son.
These things happen and the security guy and I had a good chuckle.
On the way out the Gatwick security guy and I have an even bigger laugh as the numpty, me, went through the body scanner with my glasses on and...
What chance do we have attracting tourists when easyjet write this drivel? Concrete and more miles of canals than Venice, where I am right now in fact!
Why fly to Birmingham?
Having undergone one of the largest redevelopment programmes in Britain, Birmingham is no longer a concrete jungle full...
By convincing Americans to come to Birmingham.
If Americans came in huge numbers, then their airlines will bring them. Problem is it has not happened form so long now that and the proximity to LHR means that they will not come back. The concept of distance in the US is completely different to...
The people who run the airport know what they are doing.
And BHX is not, according the Which, the worst airport in the UK. The worst one appears to be doing pretty darn well at 30 mppa. Connectivity, frequency and convenience rule the day. Better to spend an extra minute in a security or...
The wonderful Channel Four documentary, 21st Century Jet is on YouTube now and worth watching. Ground breaking aircraft.
Great video and truly huge aircraft.
Thanks for the stats, Matt.
Just been on FR24 and there are only 20 aircraft showing for BHX! Blimey. Is it 5.00 am?
Plus is it me or have FR24 overcomplicated the app with the new customisation bit? Worked fine before.
Plus, plus, a An26 drones over tranquil Essex most night (it did last...
No doubt it will lead to 'Watch plane struggle to land in crosswind at airport' videos on the BBC news.
No as much fun as 'Watch planes land in fog at Heathrow' video the other day that the BBC posted.
New Year's resolution: learn to love the BBC's News website team.
Another factor, major factor, is that the West Midlands, the principal catchment for BHX is the poorest area in England. That's why we have loads of low cost airlines, few 'national' carriers, and little business and first class services.
True. Back in the day, BHX used to be the busier...
Here here Ray.
Wishing everyone a great Christmas. Enjoy your time with family and friends.
Thanks for.the company over the last year and for the memories and passion for the airport with the bumpiest runway on earth, and of course airports everywhere.
Let's raise a glass or two
Thanks for trying Matt. It is such a shame to see that building gradually deteriorate. It would make a great venue for conferences, business centre, training centre with a spotting location to boot....I feel a business plan coming on... The airport needs to innovate.
Thanks for this Ian md everyone for the stats.
It is a shame that the CAA no longer publish the summary which compared each airport - passenger numbers in month and rolling year, with movements.
But one thing I keep noticing is the the UK market share of BHX is up from 4.2 to 4.4% which has...
Matt is right. We all share the same passion and enthusiasm, and logon here each day to see if there are any snippets of news. Alas, at the announcement season is pretty much done and folks far closer to the news are saying that's it for now folks
What is great, and I eat humble pie, is that...
American airlines will only fly to Europe to destinations where Americans want to visit...so London and Scotland and the Euro capitals (and Frankfurt, Barcelona...). Or where there are exceptional reliable connections through alliances i.e KEF.
Otherwise, it will be Euro or British airlines...
