PIA won't feature until they get the all clear from the CAA. So perhaps February announcement for a late March/early April start for them

Really random question but it is relevant to this thread.

Do you need a gcse or a degree to work in route development?
I would imagine that those recruited directly into route development would have a relevant background in e.g. sales or would have worked through other jobs in the airport.

I think that, these days, GCSEs, at least, would be required. Those in prominent jobs, such as route development in a largish airport, would surely have experience relevant to the task. They are likely to be graduates.

Are we expecting any likely new routes announcements this week?

you have already asked this on Sunday, in post 9099 Ant!! - I don't expect any announcements for a while now, you really need some patience, route news can all come along at the same time, or it could go very quiet for months on end! - I doub't many people on here really know when new routes will be announced, only the airline or airports will be privy to this information!

Next one October 2025 :)

Matt is right. We all share the same passion and enthusiasm, and logon here each day to see if there are any snippets of news. Alas, at the announcement season is pretty much done and folks far closer to the news are saying that's it for now folks

What is great, and I eat humble pie, is that we are back to pre-covid levels...I said it will be a decade....within 5 years. I would love nothing more to have the business city to business city network of days of yore back, but the economics do not work. If another airline announces and extra rotation to Málaga or Corfu, then frankly that is where the demand lies and I will have to just shut myself up.

What is critical is how the airport can define the city and the region and be the shop window for people coming in, and a safe, convenient and easy to use terminus for people off on their hols.

The future is looking good and greater folk have hinted at enough big announcements that the team are working tirelessly on.

Cheers Ray.Matt i apologise for the I reply to you however I think we should share the same respect for each other.Lets make matters rest and leave it that.

In terms of routes being announced. Are we likely to see new routes with Ezy or FR

no issues at all with you Ant (y) just asking for a bit of patience, not every member on here, will log on every day, and are able to answer your questions!!

re EZY, 6 aircraft now required on Wednesday & Thursdays Summer 2025, a few gaps still to be filled yet!! ;)

Royal Jordanian to launch Birmingham in 2027
A great announcement, however, a few years on these forums has stripped away all my optimism! 2027 is still quite a way away yet, and I'd imagine this would be served by a narrow body rather than a widebody as pictured!

Hope to be proven wrong on both fronts. Exciting if it comes to fruition

Widebodys are occasionally used if flight overbooking has reached more than a certain threshold

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
