[textarea]New Luton Airport parking options

Airport parking company FHR have two new meet and greet parking options at Luton Airport. Their new standard meet and greet airport parking product - great for business and leisure travellers - offers cheaper prices than any other website.

And for those who want added extras, they also have a new Luton Airport meet and greet parking offer with a Mini Valet. This includes an exterior wash and wax, the interior is vacuumed, dashboard polished, door shuts cleaned, windows cleaned Inside and out, plus the tyres are 'dressed'.

With both services customers are met at the airport at both ends of the journey, so no transfers required, cars are stored in a floodlit secured fenced site with cctv, less than 4 miles from the terminal and they are available 24/7 365 days a year.

A LUTON pensioner is £122 out of pocket after being threatened by a debt-collecting company acting on behalf of Luton Airport parking operator APCOA.

Patrick Corcoran contacted the Herald&Post after our front page story last week revealed organisations like APCOA do not have a legal right to recover a parking fine without first taking court action.

Mr Corcoran of Icknield said: “I haven’t got a clue what I did wrong.

“I took my family to the airport to pick up tickets. I hadn’t been for a while and it had all changed. I couldn’t see where to stop so dropped them off. Then I saw two policemen and asked them where to go.”

Four months later Mr Corcoran received a letter from Roxburghe Debt Collectors advising him they had been instructed to collect £122 on behalf of their client APCOA Parking Limited.

He telephoned immediately and was told APCOA had sent him an enforcement notice in April: “I was informed the amount was increasing daily, I was about to be placed on the debtors register if I did not pay and that Roxburghe had the power to pursue this matter to a conclusion.”

He was advised to pay the total amount then appeal it, based on the fact he had not received the original notice.

Last month he received a letter from APCOA enclosing a copy of the parking charge notice and claiming they were unable to cancel it or issue a refund.

“I have vigorously questioned their complaints and appeals procedure and I now intend taking this matter up wth my MP,” Mr Corcoran said.

I wonder how these private 'enforcement notices' stand up in the courts.

Apparently they are generally only classed as legal if a accompanied with photographic evidence incorporating a time and date stamp.

This incident happened also happened at Luton airport:

In September last year, Julie Greensmith dropped her husband off at Luton Airport. Julie explained,

"I pulled up at the traffic lights that were on red and my husband got out while the traffic lights were still on red, and then they changed to green and I proceeded to go and park my car."

A few weeks later she received a parking enforcement notice for pulling up in a no-stop zone. She sent a letter of appeal straight away, but APCOA Parking Ltd, whose ANPR cameras monitor the airport, took 98 days to respond. That's 84 days more than specified in the Code. And even though their photo clearly showed Julie's car in stationary traffic on a roundabout, they rejected her appeal.

More information about this and more is available at this address http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/watchdog/201 ... iving.html

In connection with your post flypark, if someone received a letter from Roxburghe, simply ignore and stop worrying. They won't take you to court, this is just part of their tactics. Roxburghe's can do absolutely nothing to you beyond jumping up and down stamping their feet demanding that you pay your debt. Though they have a Consumer Credit Act license, they are still being investigated.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
