Newcastle International Airport has announced a brand new partnership with a premium taxi firm.

From May 2019, Arrow Cars will become the official taxi service provider for passengers going to and from the front of the North East’s largest airport - and they have already commenced recruitment of over 100 drivers from the region.

The national taxi firm will be providing a high-quality and value-for-money service which gives travellers the option to pre-book online or over the phone.

A brand new Arrow Cars booking office will be created within the terminal building - which will also allow passengers to walk up and book their journeys.

Arrow Cars will be replacing the current provider, Airport Taxis, following a thorough tender process in late 2018.

The company, which also works with a number of other UK airports, is now looking to recruit professional and enthusiastic local drivers, including drivers from Airport Taxis, to join its team.

Mark Hunt, Chief Financial Officer at Newcastle Airport, said: “A public tender process was completed in late 2018, following which the decision was made to appoint Arrow Cars as our new taxi provider.

“The tender process took into account a wide range of criteria and we carried out a comprehensive review of all applicants.

“Continuing our focus on delivering an exceptional customer experience, we were very impressed with the service that Arrow has to offer, including the latest booking technology.

“We would like to thank Airport Taxis for the service it has provided to the Airport and the North East travelling public.”

David Richmond, Arrow Cars Chairman, added: “We are delighted to have been awarded the concession for the provision of taxi services at Newcastle Airport.

"This will be the first time in Newcastle Airport’s history that a private hire company has been awarded such a contract, and we are honoured that we have been chosen to run this important service.

"We will be investing over £1,800,000 in a large company-owned fleet ranging from executive and business class estate cars to eight passenger vehicles, allowing Arrow to deliver our unique service to millions of passengers flying in and out of the North East’s largest airport.”

The taxi provider will deliver an around-the-clock service at Newcastle Airport, with uniformed drivers delivering a premium passenger experience.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
