Norwich Airport (NWI) – Summer 2026 Development & Operational Summary

With the summer season now in full swing, here is a complete roundup of everything new at Norwich Airport for 2026, covering route expansions, passenger growth, and terminal developments.

1. Route Network & Airline Highlights

Building on the success of their initial entry into Norwich, Ryanair has added a 3rd weekly frequency to Faro, operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Both Alicante and Malta continue to operate smoothly as year-round services.

Alongside Ryanair, Loganair has introduced a new seasonal Saturday service to Jersey to complement their established year round Aberdeen route, while KLM remains the airport's core international feeder, running up to four daily flights to Amsterdam Schiphol and carrying an extra 5,000 passengers year-on-year. Meanwhile, TUI continues to offer a strong Mediterranean charter schedule covering Majorca, Menorca, Ibiza, Corfu, Crete, Rhodes, Dalaman, and Antalya, alongside their year-round Tenerife flights.

2. Passenger Numbers & Performance

The expanded route options have continued to drive passenger momentum. NWI reported 453,000 annual passengers for the financial year ending March 2026, marking a 5% year on year increase that was largely driven by an additional 17,000 Ryanair passengers.

The airport's operational performance also earned national recognition, with NWI named among the top six UK airports in the latest Which? annual survey. The airport scored a 72% customer satisfaction rating, with travelers highlighting fast queue times, efficient security, and general ease of movement through the terminal.

3. Terminal & Operational Updates

Behind the scenes, Norwich has introduced a UK first AI powered wayfinding system specifically designed to help passengers with hidden disabilities navigate the terminal independently.

For ground access, all official on site airport car parks have now fully transitioned to 100% digital and cashless payments. Finally, on the security front, traditional 100ml liquid limits and bag removal rules remain strictly in place, so standard hand luggage restrictions apply for all departing passengers.

Ive used NWI a number of times in the past for business. Always found it very easy to use.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
