For a bit of fun I’ve compiled a list of destinations once served from BHX that haven’t been picked up by another carrier. I’m sure I’ve missed loads so if anyone can recall anymore feel free to post them. It’s very interesting looking back - some were one season wonders and in some cases a two week wonder (Armavia anyone?). Ryanair had some good routes out of BHX once upon a time. Wonder if we’ll ever see any of them back one day?

Antwerp (VLM)
Aruba (Thomson Airways)
Billund (bmibaby, Ryanair)
Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan Airlines)
Bologna (Ryanair)
Chicago O’Hare (American Airlines, Pakistan International Airlines)
Cologne/Bonn (bmibaby)
Deauville (Flybe)
Dinard (Ryanair)
Helsinki (British Airways)
Kiev (Ukraine International Airlines)
Ljubljana (Adria Airways)
Luxor (Thomson Airways)
Marseille (Ryanair)
Moscow (Air India)
Newcastle (Eastern Airways)
New York-JFK (American Airlines, British Airways, Uzbekistan Airways)
Olbia (Ryanair)
Oslo (Ryanair)
Philadelphia (US Airways)
Plovdiv (Balkan)
Poitiers (Ryanair)
Puerto Plata (Thomson Airways)
Rotterdam (Flybe, NLM)
Rzeszow (Ryanair)
Sharm el Sheik (Monarch Airlines, Thomas Cook Airlines, Thomson Airways)
Tashkent (Uzbekistan Airways)
Tehran (Mahan Air)
Trapani (Ryanair)
Trieste (Ryanair)
Waterford (Aer Arran, Flybe, VLM)
Yerevan (Armavia)

Have any other Canadian destinations been served, particularly when the 'mothers and daughters' traffic was at its peak? Calgary wouldn't surprise me. There always seems to be lots of pictures of multiple Canadian airlines parked together at various regional airports.

Szczecin was also served by Ryanair along with Hahn and Weeze, although I guess they were considered Frankfurt and Dusseldorf which are both still served.

Kaunas is no longer available after they moved to Vilnius.

Ryanair also did Cuneo for a short while.

Eindhoven has been served in the past but cannot remember who by?

Tenerife North used to be served by Thomson.

Taba in Egypt is no longer available

Derry has also gone but there is hope with BMIR.

Hamilton was served by Flyglobespan for a season or possibly two.

It was before my time but didn't the Air India service used to fly to Mumbai?

Didn't we also have flights to Minsk in the 90's?

Have we ever had flights to Palermo?

Beijing :censored:

Riga is another still missing.

I think Ryanair used to do Tallinn?

Haven't we also had Boston in the past?

I'm sure that I remember someone saying that we used to have charters to Constanta?

Thinking about it that could have been NLM rather than Rotterdam?

As for Orlando I don't know which airport Monarch used in the DC-10 era. I flew MAN-SFB in 2001 but that was on the A330. JMC definitely operated to Sanford but Britannia might have flown to MCO back in the day?

Constanta was served by Tarom Il18s,and,maybe the odd BAC 1-11,memory has faded a bit on that one but was definitely served for at least one season, maybe 2.

Wasn't Gatwick served for a while in a shorts 360

Gatwick was served as was LHR.Numerous aircraft have been used from Twin Otter and Herald(LGW)to Sh330 & Sh360 BMA and BAe ATP(LHR).

Where did American Trans Air fly to in their TriStars

Those were charters to various US cities spread over a summer season.
I remember JFK being one, maybe Chicago as well, but can't remember any more.Possibly Boston.

Ercan in northern Cyprus was served for a couple of seasons by Pegasus routing via Antalya.

You may be right Karl,as said earlier my memory has faded a bit.
Pegasus did fly out of BHX for a couple of seasons on a Monday morning. If anyone can remember the destination for those flights, that might help!
Didn't KTHY have Airbus aircraft?Pegasus definitely used 738s.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
