It makes you wonder if staff being moved around will increase when Brexit kicks in.When the shuttle flights started way back when they used a Caravan aircraft, and a airline from Canada that did the shuttle used Airbus type aircraft.I see HI- FLY malta are sourceing 3x 319 jets to operate the airbus shuttle flights. Replacing loganair. 319s rather than 145/135s.
150-seat size aircraft are sometimes parked south side when I've driven past.Bristol airport are going to need more room, stands south side, for at least 2x 319s airbus shuttles
I think it may be a case of 2+2=5 here.I see HI- FLY malta are sourceing 3x 319 jets to operate the airbus shuttle flights. Replacing loganair. 319s rather than 145/135s.
Thank you for clearing up that, Severn.I think it may be a case of 2+2=5 here.
The 3x A319s to be operated by Hi Fly Malta are for the Airbus shuttle between Hamburg and Toulouse, not between Bristol, Chester and Toulouse.
The BRS/CEG/TLS operation only requires 50 seat aircraft, and I don't think that will be upgraded in the near future.
I've copied a ch-aviation article on the news you are referring to below:
Hi Fly Malta to add 3 A319s for Airbus shuttle
Hi Fly Malta will take over the Airbus SE shuttle flights between the manufacturer's assembly sites at Hamburg Finkenwerder and Toulouse Blagnac on May 2 and add three A319-100s to its fleet, ch-aviation can exclusively reveal.
Two A319-100s will be ex-Germania stock, msn 3689 and 5085, and the third one will be ex-Cobalt msn 2662.
The Portuguese ACMI/charter specialist will dedicate two A319s for the double daily Airbus SE shuttle between Toulouse and Hamburg, while the third unit will be used as a back-up and be available for ad-hoc ACMI wet-leases to other operators.
The shuttle flights between Hamburg Finkenwerder and Toulouse are currently operated by Titan Airways (ZT, London Stansted) using one A320-200 and one A321-200.
