New handling agent moving into T2 from October.
Hi Ray. Just wondering as this is on the FLYBE thread if they will be working exclusively for them, itself a good sign of commitment with the recent changes, or will they service other airlines at T2?
A quick look at their website shows they have a presence at UK airports where one other particular airline have large operations.

I think Flybe initially but who knows what will happen in the future.

Hopefully a little competition will be a good thing, especially with some of the issues that we have seen in recent years.

Going by their website WFS currently only have a UK presence at EDI (they started there Nov 2018) so BHX will be their second airport.

It does appear that they are wanting more in the future and that their 'growth strategy is aimed at numerous UK airports'.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds.

Important move to strengthen their executive team. Ex EasyJet so hopefully a positive influence as we need a strong FlyBe for the future

Hope appointed chief operations officer at Flybe

Connect Airways has announced the appointment of Chris Hope as Flybe’s new chief operations officer.
He will take up the role from November 4th.
Reporting directly to Connect Airways’ chief executive Mark Anderson, Hope will take responsibility for Flybe’s ground and air operations and customer service.
Anderson commented: “I am delighted that Chris will be joining our leadership team.
“His experience is impressive - an inspirational leader who has successfully delivered significant change and improvement throughout his career.
“His appointment supports our delivery of a safe and secure operation while we continue to enhance the experience we offer our customers.”
With over thirty years of aviation experience, he has held a number of senior positions at easyJet including director of flight operations, head of operations strategy and change, and head of easyJet’s main base at Gatwick.
He is also a qualified captain, most recently flying the Airbus A320.
Hope added: “Flybe provides a vital service that ensures quick and affordable connectivity across the UK’s regions and beyond.
“I am delighted to join the team as it embarks on this exciting new journey and look forward to playing a key role in ensuring that the airline delivers on its considerable potential. “I can’t wait to start!”

Great news for Virgin Atlantic but it makes you think of what will happen to FlyBe and future at BHX considering they are to be operating under the Virgin Brand soon?

Well we are talking about 2026 if the 3rd runway is built at Heathrow, 7 years away which is a very long time in aviation, so it won't possible affect Birmingham until then, so no need to worry! (y)

Can’t see Flybe (or whatever it’s new Virgin brand may be) existing at BHX in 2026. All I got from this article is ‘connect to Heathrow, expand at Heathrow, add competition at Heathrow’.. I say let’s go orange!

Also, with the potential of JetBlue partnering with EasyJet, a nice easyJet base might just work in our favour

Is there a possibility that Easyjet coming into the new Scottish routes could give Flybe an excuse to pull out of these routes in the future? :cautious:

Sad to think that FlyBe might completely disappear from Birmingham between now and 2026 to become Virgin Atlantic or just a feeder airline under the Virgin brand for Heathrow.

I think with timed entry of EasyJet at Birmingham it goes to show that we will lose FlyBe I think EasyJet will grow as we see FlyBe start to decline whilst they become Virgin. But then again you never know with Virgin considering they have just come up with this idea to open 130+ routes from Heathrow starting from Next Year they could stay in Birmingham and just operate Short Hall but it’s highly unlikely as Birmingham for them has never or will never be an Airport for them.

Anybody announcing expansion plans years ahead based on the the on time completion of a major infrastructure project is either deluded or looking for free publicity.
Never mind it being a long time in aviation. It is a very short time to expect the completion of a major UK infrastructure project.
Look at the derelict land that is going to blight Brum, London. and all points between for years whilst HS2 is,isn't built.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
