United Airlines are reportedly launching a swathe of new routes at 1PM today, there’s a teaser on their social media page which appears to be morse code.

I doubt Cardiff are in with a shout on this one, but Glasgow is being rumoured quite heavily.

Would be a massive shock if a US airline launched flights to Cardiff!

Qatar Airways is mentioned in this video but I've put it here because it's probably relevant to all routes. The Welsh government can't just snap its fingers and airlines turn up. If like Loganair or Easyjet they don't want to serve Cardiff they won't.

The whole question session about Cardiff Airport is in the link below. It includes the First Minister answer to Andrew RT Davies and Peredur Griffiths from Plaid Cymru question about the airport as well.

Having watched the video, nothing much has changed, Andrew R T Davies still banging the drum for the Doha route, and the first minister reading all her answers from prepared text, with neither having much idea how an airport is run. Let's hope the rumours circulating of the prospect of a new airline and new route are correct, and will be announced soon, that should put a smile on Andrew R T Davies's face. I wonder if the slots obtained by Qatar over a year ago, for four weekly flights, are still in force.

To be fair to her these questions are put forward in advance so the civil service would've drafted a reply. She's not going to say anything really than just the stock reply and Andrew RT Davies is just after a social media clip.
I did find it interesting that Plaid Cymru spokesperson clarified that they'd keep it in public ownership and the MS in question seems to have used the airport recently and described it as a good experience.
I suspect if there's a return of Qatar Airways (I don't think there will be) or a future long haul link the FM will be there to get a photo op no doubt with Andrew RT Davies standing on the roundabout complaining about lack of aircraft. It's noticeable though that Andrew didn't mention the loss of Edinburgh rather that he focused on Qatar Airways.

PIA … mentions Cardiff for future

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will operate its first flight to Britain in more than five years on Saturday after a ban triggered by fake pilot licences was lifted.

The service from Islamabad to Manchester could pave the way for flights to half a dozen UK cities, according to Mohammad Faisal, the country’s high commissioner

Mr Faisal said flights from Karachi and Lahore should also resume soon, and services to Glasgow – serving 90,000 people of Pakistani descent – and Cardiff were in the pipeline.

Could that be the long haul route rumoured for announcement a few weeks back?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
