Jerry that is quite a comprehensive list you have there. A tall order for some of them I think. Rome will be served by BE next year. What sort of time frame are we looking at here?
It's a wish list really though i have kept it grounded as I didn't include Singapore and Delta for Portland Oregon!
It also doesn't have to be new routes it could be the same routes with a different airline ie Norwegian Malaga and Alicante which are of course already covered by Vueling. There wasn't a time frame mentioned say in the next 10 years.

Considering the Icelandair announcement of them flying to BHD next summer could a KEF route for CWL be more likely than before especially considering Flybe codeshare with Icelandair. Even if a Q400 couldn't cover the distance an E195 could.

Apart from the less than desirable type of aircraft (to many people) on BHD-KEF they will be up against easyJet at BFS. An Airbus or a Q400? Unless the fares on the point to point sections are much cheaper with Icelandair/Air Iceland (but could they undercut easyJet to that extent?) I think most people would go for the Airbus.

BHD's location might attract a few punters who don't mind the turbo-prop but I presume the main purpose is to attract passengers onto Icelandair's transatlantic services.

Maybe Flybe/Icelandair would look at CWL with the transatlantic business in mind but it would probably depend on how much Flybe got out of the deal.

I think Icelandair are looking more at connecting passengers to North America especially since Northern Ireland has lost it's direct service and I would imagine using a Q400 would be a beginning until they get 737 MAXs so hopefully it will be a success and encourage them to branch out to other airports. They do use the Q400 for ABZ as well and at BHD they are quite used to the Q400.
If they do eventually look at CWL it would be a good option as a transatlantic hub better than DUB as they have just as many connections as DUB.

I know this could be a long shot but i was wondering if TAP could launch a LIS-CWL route. I read that they are going to start 11 new routes with 7 being in Europe though i believe some are routes they previously served before. Considering that from next summer CWL will have 6 weekly flights to FAO in Portugal but no flights to anywhere else in Portugal. I was wondering if TAP could surprise everyone with LIS a bit like Iberia did with MAD though i do believe it would be an even bigger shock surprise than that!

Lisbon is a great city destination. My wife and I spent a few days there some years ago.

Yes it would be a great addition to CWL though it would be a surprise if it happens. I have been there as a stop on a cruise and would love to go back and explore it more especially to the north of Lisbon and the Lines of Torres Vedras! I'm a big history buff especially the Peninsular War.

It's possible. I didn't expect Madrid. I thought that one would be a long way down the queue.

Lisbon is indeed a fantastic city to Visit as local has pointed out, I myself have used the EZY service from BRS numerous times over the last 2-3 years and it is always full ( shame that T2 is fast becoming a complete nightmare ), usually with a fair few welsh accents to be heard, but also a fair few students. Interestingly over the course of the last year, Ryanair have been expanding services quite rapidly, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they pitched up at BRS with the route, plenty of scope for expansion on the route in my view, potentially a chance for CWL also, although there's a host of beach destinations that I imagine will be looked at first, TAP express would be an interesting one after Portugálian were made into TAP express and the fleet was completely replaced with new aircraft, a 3 weekly Embraer 190 service would do very well. A big student population here would undoubtedly help as well as the big leisure draw of Lisbon itself.

Yes it could be a potential for summer 2018. Unless Flybe based another Q400 then i would of have thought the only airline that may consider it would be TAP Express and it would also have the benefit of not just a new airline but one part of a different alliance (Star Alliance). What could help persuade TAP (if CWL is on their radar) that LIS could be viable is if MAD and FCO are successes next year so fingers crossed for them!

It seems as if Jet2 isn't going to happen just yet. In a recent Q&A session the potential of a new base was mentioned with Cardiff suggested as a possible location, the reply was that it's 'not in their short or medium term plans'. He did say 'never say never' though and we all know that things can and do change.

I remember reading this in the article below, I think most were thinking out of hope rather then expectation, myself included, simply as I've put on the Thomas Cook thread, the two charter companies really could do with a kick and that could have been the sort of thing where a 2 aicraft base would do such a thing.

As you say things can change, who knows what can happen, I'm sure the management here and also elsewhere are doing there best to try and entice Jet2 and other airlines, it's never an easy task.

It doesn't come as a surprise especially considering they've just undergone a major expansion and though it would be great to see them flying from Cardiff i can't see it happening any time soon especially as i've no doubt they will be hoping to attract welsh pax up to their new BHX base! But i sincerely hope I'm wrong!

Seems like something could be brewing with regards to Cobalt, whilst not appearing directly in a drop down search, modifying the search brings up CWL, GLA and NCL, no flights loaded as yet, however after a few months back being told it was no longer in contention, it would be an excellent addition and a great start to the year.

It certainly looks as though Cobalt intends starting a Cardiff-Larnaca service this year. If it's 2 x weekly even if only in summer it ought to provide 12,000-15,000 passengers this year at a conservative estimate. Every little helps to build momentum at the airport.

A twice weekly Larnaca from Cobalt would be a great route for Cardiff airport if it comes off. Finger's crossed for it.

Just need to get the flights available for booking as quickly as possible.

Welcome back and Happy New Year, Jerry. I hope you had a great time in Uncle Sam's Land.

Yes hopefully they'll be available soon! And i had a great time thanks!

On another forum a poster has put up a reply from Blue Air about Cardiff. I'll quote part of it 'Cardiff will be on our schedule a bit later but until then you can choose our flights from London, Liverpool or Birmingham. Thank you so much for your interest!' With Cobalt seemingly dragging there feet over LCA could that be a possible route for Blue Air or considering Italy is popular from CWL so Turin maybe? Though the only airports they fly to all 3 of the above from are Bucharest Henri Coanda and Cluj.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
