    Birmingham: (BHX) - General Thread

Where to start! Aside from anything else, closing down the smaller runway has actually resulted in MORE passengers as it allowed for more stands to be built which in turn gave way for more aircraft to be based. Also, a quick google suggests the small runway was decommissioned in January 2008...

Birmingham: Emirates News & Flight Discussions

Well it makes a change from reading about how useless the BHX management are, endless lists of route predictions or updated timetables because Ryanair have retimed a Marrakech flight by five minutes! These days the BHX forums are sadly nowhere near as enjoyable as they used to be.

Birmingham: Jet2.com Route News & Base Updates

Have received an email from Jet2 notifying me that our flights will now be operated by an A321 and they have had to alter our seats accordingly as it was originally a 737. Are the seats on the A321s as bad as people make out? Our flights in October are also on the 321! 😬

    Qatar Airways

Qatar have suspended BHX along with a few other destinations. Doubt we’ll be seeing them back here anytime soon. https://loyaltylobby.com/2026/03/22/qatar-airways-suspends-12-destinations-including-tokyo-seoul-moscow-zurich/#google_vignette

Birmingham: Weather & Technical Diversions, Delays & Cancellations

Whatever constitutes ‘normal’ these days, It’s a miracle a civilian airliner hasn’t been hit - has no one learned from the Malaysian, Ukraine and Azerbaijan incidents?

Perhaps belly freight is also a factor? An A321 would carry far less than a 787.

Qatar Airways: Cuts Over 130 UK Flights Ahead of Summer 2026

If QR aren’t going to increase frequency then an upgrade to the 789 would seem the logical choice to increase capacity at BHX. If yield is an issue then I don’t think throwing a premium heavy 77W on the route would be a good move.

Who knows with Air India - those 77Ws are very premium heavy so I’m really surprised to see them flying from Amritsar.

    Birmingham: Route Development & Rumours

What BHX really needs is a direct service to EMA, save the good folk of the West Midlands having to navigate the A38 all the time!

Flying from Brum? Tell us where you're going

Palma is a lovely city and definitely worth visiting - I loved walking around the marina and dreaming of being able to afford one of the yachts! Where in Majorca are you staying?

Aer Lingus: Plans to close its long haul base at Manchester Airport

If you live near the airport yes but that’s not necessarily the case for everyone who falls into MANs catchment, When we flew Aer Lingus to New York for a long weekend the travel agent was pushing for us to use the direct MAN flight but going from BHX via DUB won out for a number of reasons - no...
