It doesn't look like Sun Express will be operating the December/January festive period Leeds-Antalya flights this year sadly, I guess after they didn't do too well last Christmas?

Better news is that we have 4x weekly flights operating Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun from October 25th to November 8th, Then restart 2x weekly Fri & Sun from March 19th to 26th.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Other airports already suffered a SunExpress cull. Turkey is apparently also suffering on the back of the Orange Mans' antics in the ME

Looks to stop Sun 07Jun and recommence Wed 01Jul so not too bad in the grand scheme of things

Just seen this posted on social media

@SunExpress have reportedly cancelled dozens of flights from the UK to Türkiye, affecting routes to Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman, and Izmir.

According to Tourism Economy, SunExpress has decided to cancel numerous flights from the UK to Turkey between June and the first week of July.

The company had previously cancelled some flights from Manchester to Bodrum. Under the new decision:

- 6 flights on the Bristol-Antalya route between June 7 and July 8.
- 14 flights on the Leeds-Antalya route between June 8 and July 1.
- 6 flights on the Glasgow-Dalaman route from June 10 and July 1.

Oh dear. Looking at the website, that’s a full 3 week suspension. I must admit I did think something was off when looking at the website yesterday, but because I was on mobile and the signal strength was poor I thought nothing of it

Come to think of it, the flight I saw depart last month during the Easter holidays didn’t look particularly full. On 14 the B738s tend to reach the crest of the runway, the flight took off relatively short of it

Unfortunately I can’t actually look at the loads of the flights, and I don’t trust the Jet2 website to provide accurate figures, so I don’t really know how they’re doing and can’t calculate them from the CAA stats later on

The tourist market is Turkey is suffering a significant decline. It is no longer the cheap tourist destination it was previously and now add in the crisis in the Middle East it’s no wonder Sun Express are consolidating their flights.

Was it though? The current situation is caused by the gulf crisis with Iran. Prior to that Turkey had seen exponential growth by most operators, not just SunExpress.
Turkey has actually been struggling as a market since last summer. Rampant inflation in Turkey and greedy hoteliers are the two biggest things to blame. There is also probably over capacity these days in the Turkish market so this isn’t particularly a surprise.

Exactly that - I’ve friends who have property out there and they say Turkey is far from the cheap holiday destination it was previously….Added to everything is the fact that the Turkish government has implemented some hefty tax increases which have had a significant impact on the cost of holidaying there and eroded any advantage it had over Spain for instance.

tly that

Sad to see Sun Express having to cut back so big, they were doing so well out of Leeds as I’ve used them last 2x years down to Antalya.

The is only one person to blame for this loss and that’s the orange haired president of the USA for his War & blockade against Iran.

Wow thats bad news regarding sunexpress, i guess with sunexpress still been a newcomer to some uk airports and an unknown airline to many members of the public there is always more of a challenge to fill their planes compared to the likes of jet2, easyjet etc
One thing i definitely noticed whilst in the alicante region last week and in the city of alicante itself is that tourism is booming, I've never seen it as busy! seems they is a shift back to the western med, people are playing it safe even though there are no safety concerns anyway.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
