Thanks. So what is the main plane used by Jet2/ryanair? Are these stands ready for bigger/longer haul planes?

As a regular airport user but non plane spotter type is the 321 basically the plane Ryanair and Jet2 tend to use today? Do we see any 330 size planes today? Who tends to use these and how big?

    Road, Rail & Access Issues

Directly from the planning pre app: 7.16 Transport and Access 7.17 The proposal will involve the submission of a transport assessment which will consider the likely effects on each mode of travel on the existing highway network and any mitigation if it is required. This is still being...

Suppose it's a once in a generation chance to push for the hours... If they waited until terminal built then tried to push through as standalone change it might never be approved...

    Future Infrastructure Developments

The frustration with airport NIMBYs is that they bought their house with a discount to the market rate due to being within earshot. Leeds is a growing city and aviation is growing so it should come as no surprise when it needs to expand. This inconvenience is priced into the house...

    Road, Rail & Access Issues

But the airport is literally surrounded by car parking?! Surely space could be allocated for a Park and Ride car park which was close to a terminal front rail halt?! I don't see why as a city we should settle for a Parkway for the sake of half a mile of cutting... The Victorians build Bramhope...

Brill update as always and thanks for your commitment to the cause. Did you enquire if they will re engage regarding the direct rail link given the completely different terminal location and topography? Thanks

Why aren't they also asking if govt (3.6.10) that a National Strategy limits flight numbers relative to local population... This is key for our economy.

    Road, Rail & Access Issues

Imagine a foreign tourist or business visitor arriving to LBA if direct rail link existed though?... Exit terminal Board train Exit Leeds City centre One simple and fast journey Now with Parkway bus and English as second language... Figure out where correct bus stop is out of several Be...

    Road, Rail & Access Issues

Exactly this. The question needs to be reasked and experts (not Internet forum desktop experts) need to re evaluate... The location of a direct spur would now be completely different, shorter and over different topography. Also it is somewhat flawed to value a direct rail station based on...

    Road, Rail & Access Issues

Nah it would definitely put me off... You're forgetting all the transfers to get just to the new Parkway. Let's assume I don't live adjacent to a suburban railway station... Walk to local station Wait Board with bags Disembark Leeds City centre Cross Leeds Station across multiple platforms...

Thanks that would be much appreciated. I think the experts looking at it again would be very worthwhile... Completely different end location and topography at play now... Also worth pointing out the Victorians built Bramhope tunnel by hand!

@white_heather would you mind asking at the consultation if they will reopen dialogue with LCC about a direct rail link in light of the new more adventageous location?

    Future Infrastructure Developments

Intersting thought... All of the prior analysis for a direct rail link was done based on location of the existing terminal. The new terminal is on much lower ground and much closer to the existing rail line. Could it be that a shorter distance and lower gradient make a direct spur more viable...

    Future Infrastructure Developments

The really dumb thing is that to aid climate change avoidance we should be expanding Yorkshire airports... By blocking expansion of LBA it means more people will drive further to Manc creating ground transportation pollution. Leeds should be campaigning for a national cap by region on...

    Aer Lingus

Is it still possible to book Aer Lingus Business class from Leeds on a connecting ticket? I recently booked but found even when selecting Business class the option presented was always economy on the Leeds/Dublin leg.... Shame as I'll miss out on the lounge this time round.
