I'm suprised they don't route the DUB flights thru Manchester but there again that maybe being pompous on my part and assumes we have a larger market to Africa.

I think you missed the point.
The Shuttle was cancelled late yesterday afternoon in "anticipation" of snow. That has morphed into an operational issue today with the inability to de ice at a sufficient rate to maintain the schedule.
A check of the departure boards for Heathrow Gatwick Luton...
And currently the 1750 metar is showing 10kms or more whilst the punters on the 1820 shuttle which has been cancelled will no doubt be spun a line about adverse weather.

Cancelling flights on Sunday for Monday is taking a prudent approach to stratospheric levels , hence my scepticism.
Cancelling a "light load" is an easy target for the BA , more problematic for the passenger's who have now missed connections perhaps uneccessarly .
If the load factor is as light as the "possibility" of snow this has to be an entirely prudent and indeed predictable measure.
