And TOM 383 came in a few minutes before the RYR.
The LH from Munich has gone to EMA but the FRA still holding for BHX.

STN/LTN look to have the worst of the forecast for early tomorrow onwards (1000m with chance of it going to 200m), with Leeds having a snow forecast of 800m. We're only down for light snow so expect 2 or 3 feet of snow here instead.

Looks like a couple of tech Dreamliners to report. Yesterdays (6/2) SV124 HZ-ARA did not depart. SV9069 HZ-AR12 has arrived today (7/2) presumably to take yesterdays pax out, departed as SV2032. So three Saudi B789 on the deck today (not all together) with HZ-ARF operating SV123/4 as normal.
Also QR22 A7-BCH did not depart this morning (7/2) presumably also tech.

1st "forecast snow" cancellation for tomorrow

16:20 London Heathrow BA1396 Cancelled

1100 TAFs for LHR and MAN:
MAN PROB30 TEMPO 2604/2618 3000 -SHSN BKN009 so we have light snow
LHR TEMPO 2600/2610 2000 -SHSN BKN010 TEMPO 2610/2618 2000 -SHSN BKN010 PROB30
TEMPO 2610/2618 07015G25KT 0800 SHSN BKN004 and they will have light snow with it may be heavy.

If the load factor is as light as the "possibility" of snow this has to be an entirely prudent and indeed predictable measure.

A BA spokesperson said....
"Unlike the irresponsible and cavalier attitude of some airlines who protect ALL their schedules and all their passengers convenience at all costs, it is absolutely crucial we protect our bottom line against the threat of providing a comprehensive customer service. We will not yield to common sense"

In other news all other operators at Heathrow will maintain a FULL schedule

.....er until it ACTUALLY SNOWS !

If the BBC forecast proves to be reliable (and he did stress uncertainty), Thursday could be the day of most impact down south as snow moves up from France. Unfortunately, it may then sweep north across the whole country.

I wonder what other cancellations MAN may have before then. Early in the week, disruption seems most likely at airports like NCL, LBA, EMA and possibly BHX. If there are flights still operating that need to divert, it remains to be seen what MAN's policy will be on whether or not to accept them.

BE1333/BEE1NL Flybe Dash 8 G-PRPL diverted to MAN enroute EDI-LCY this morning. Pilot reported an acrid smell in the cockpit.

Yes Thursday seems to be the day.

Cancelling flights on Sunday for Monday is taking a prudent approach to stratospheric levels , hence my scepticism.

Cancelling a "light load" is an easy target for the BA , more problematic for the passenger's who have now missed connections perhaps uneccessarly .

Well, Darren Bett's forecast a few minutes ago now includes Greater Manchester in the snow warning for tomorrow morning - probably in our rush hour peak from 07.00 to 10.00. Liverpool according to the chart escapes, as does Birmingham as far as the longer period of snow is concerned. Of course, it may yet change again.

Thursday's chart seemed to show the SE missing the blizzard-like conditions which appeared to be affecting central southern and SW England. Friday was just a mass of white across the whole country!

BA yesterday afternoon loaded the following cancellations for today - the return of the rotation would also be canceled obviously.

The reason is that BA has not got sufficient resources at LHR to de-ice at a rate which would allow the normal program to be maintained.

I would expect some more pro-active cancellations would be loaded later today for tomorrow, and MAN may again lose at least one rotation.

That's precisely what BA has done many times in the past, cancelling flights a day ahead for days with forecast snow and days with predicted weather where there is an expectation of landing rate reductions forecast from NATS.

And currently the 1750 metar is showing 10kms or more whilst the punters on the 1820 shuttle which has been cancelled will no doubt be spun a line about adverse weather.

Not good enough !

The cancellations by ba today and tomorrow (they have been loaded now) are nothing to do with visibility.

I think you missed the point.

The Shuttle was cancelled late yesterday afternoon in "anticipation" of snow. That has morphed into an operational issue today with the inability to de ice at a sufficient rate to maintain the schedule.

A check of the departure boards for Heathrow Gatwick Luton and Stansted confirms other airlines seem to be running a full schedule despite the temperature .

Yes they are proactively cancelled as BA knew yesterday there is no point them trying to run the normal schedule today since they can’t de-ice all their aircraft at a rate necessary to maintain it at LHR. Other airlines make their own decisions in conjunction with their own handling agents. See my post here which explains what is happening this week:

As far as I am aware Heathrow holds a committee to discuss bad weather events and if they decide to reduce capacity then airlines must reduce services. From what I gather, domestic services are culled first to protect long haul operations but I think this particular decision is taken by the airlines.

There's no way Heathrow would want another day like this...

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
