It would be good for fans but I doubt there are sufficient volumes to be viable. Maybe a bit expensive for tourists and stag 'do's' as well.

I wonder exactly when the official FR annoucement will come? I was told of an announcement in November, so should be in next 2 weeks. When I was told about this Split was mentioned as a destination, but it doesnt appear in the list. I suppose things could have changed.

As far as I was aware (and I was involved) no one wanted to take over either the export scanning/trucking or the import transit shed. Without a wide body operator freight at regional airports is dead. Newcastle wouldnt have a transit shed if werent a requirement of the Emirates contract that...

I agree, we all get a great deal of enjoyment- at no cost out of the airport, the least we can do is go to these meetings. Its important we speak up, not only will GALBA then fully appreciate there is support for the airport but also that we are actually making the effort to attend and...

My suggestion would to only submit basic details, this will prompt more to go to the meetings in person.

It dont think it was heavily used for exports and imports were mainly mangoes. Having said that my firm used it for garments, mainly from the Far East. The airport had a Transit Shed back then. It wasnt viable to retain it once PIA went.

Revenue varies from market to market. Generally though pax narrow bodies arent viable for cargo, even without pax theres little capacity. I suspect generating even small amounts of cargo on export or import would be very hard unless the carrier had a good route network.

The airline might make more money, but LBA would have to provide a transit shed and staff it, which is not going to be viable.

My feeling having attended 3 of these events is that although GALBA spend a lot of time spouting about the environmental impact of emissions, most people who attend are only interested in noise.
