Newmarket Holidays

The above company that offers holidays from many UK airports using established carriers from those airports seems to be branching out significantly in summer 2011 to holiday destinations not normally offered from a particular airport.

The frequencies are usually no more than 3 x per season and in many cases just one return flight per season.

However, the interesting point is that the carrier on most if not all of these limited season flights is the Baltic State-based Small Planet Airlines that has a small fleet of B 757s and B737s.

Cardiff has one return flight to each of Dubrovnik, Naples and Verona in summer 2010.

Other airports featured in this way include Bristol, Bournemouth, Norwich and Exeter though this may not be an exhaustive list.

There was some talk on a major aviation web site a couple of weeks ago that Small Planet might be basing an aircraft at Bristol in summer 2011 but I've heard nothing further.

Naples a beautiful place. I've never understood why it isn't served much better from UK airports.

Naples seems to be regressing from some airports.

For 20 plus years Bristol has had a weekly Friday Thomson summer charter to Naples which became 2 x weekly for several years (even 3 x weekly in 2006) but in 2009 and 2010 it reduced to once weekly.

Good that these 3 destinations are on the radar from CWL, even though it is only one flight each. It's better than nothing though

I would tend to agree with that statement. It shows the routes are workable to some degree and I would imagine there's little risk in operating one off flights. Assuming the flights sell well additional flights could always be added at a later stage.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
