According to another forum there were only four people booked on the BRS-RHO but another poster there said that only the inbound flights were combined (I believe it was the first TCX BRS-RHO of the season so the return would be expected to be low on numbers). The other poster said that the CWL punters bussed to BRS left on another flight after the BRS one had departed.
I can't confirm any of this. I can't believe that only four would have been booked on the BRS-RHO especially as the bank holiday weekend and half term are rapidly approaching, even taking into account the reported lessening of interest in Greece as a holiday destination this year.
If there was a second aircraft taking the CWL punters it couldn't have been the second based A 321 because presumably that had already left for Larnaca. If an additional aircraft was brought in why bring it to BRS if the 'stranded' punters were all at CWL?
Anyone?
The A320 based at CWL is operated by SmartLynx on an ACMI basis (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance). So even though it is wearing Thomas Cook colours, it is not a TCX aircraft and the SmartLynx aircraft went tech. Because of this the TCX crew are not allowed to operate it. Now I can only speculate but as TCX do not have a base at CWL then there may have been potential contract and access issues for the TCX A321 A/C and crew from what I can think of. So because BRS is an established base then there would have been no issues for crew access and contracts for handling of the a/c and TCX Crew were probably all ready and called in to go
But no doubt someone who may be a reader from accross the boarder who reads this thread will correct me if I am wrong!
