According to another forum there were only four people booked on the BRS-RHO but another poster there said that only the inbound flights were combined (I believe it was the first TCX BRS-RHO of the season so the return would be expected to be low on numbers). The other poster said that the CWL punters bussed to BRS left on another flight after the BRS one had departed.

I can't confirm any of this. I can't believe that only four would have been booked on the BRS-RHO especially as the bank holiday weekend and half term are rapidly approaching, even taking into account the reported lessening of interest in Greece as a holiday destination this year.

If there was a second aircraft taking the CWL punters it couldn't have been the second based A 321 because presumably that had already left for Larnaca. If an additional aircraft was brought in why bring it to BRS if the 'stranded' punters were all at CWL?

Anyone?

The A320 based at CWL is operated by SmartLynx on an ACMI basis (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance). So even though it is wearing Thomas Cook colours, it is not a TCX aircraft and the SmartLynx aircraft went tech. Because of this the TCX crew are not allowed to operate it. Now I can only speculate but as TCX do not have a base at CWL then there may have been potential contract and access issues for the TCX A321 A/C and crew from what I can think of. So because BRS is an established base then there would have been no issues for crew access and contracts for handling of the a/c and TCX Crew were probably all ready and called in to go

But no doubt someone who may be a reader from accross the boarder who reads this thread will correct me if I am wrong!

Thomas cook launching almeria next summer - every Saturday. A route I think was last operated during the 1980s of i recall rightly

I think you may well be right there Marko. I can't remember it in the last 25 years the period which my more detailed records cover. I used Thomson a lot from BRS in the 1980s when our kids were at school and, although we never flew to Almeria, I have a vague recollection that Thomson did so.

It's good news and I have a feeling there may be more to come from Thomas Cook.

There are 28 weekly rotations to 16 destinations, as follows.

Summer 2015 began with 29 weekly rotations but the 3 x weekly Enfidha rotations were axed in early season with only one of them replaced by another destination, Faro, leaving 27 weekly rotations for the majority of the season.

This is the comparison with the post-Enfidha programme last year.

Dalaman -1
Palma +1
Antalya -1
Larnaca +1
Tenerife +1
Ibiza +1
Kefalonia +1 (did not operate in summer 2015)
Burgas -1 (not operating summer 2016)
Faro -1 (not operating summer 2016)

Summer 2018 released. Increases to Corfu, Heraklion and dalaman. Appears gaps tho. Lots of early departures and late arrivals so far

Usually some time in April so not too far off. Incidentally the release is only partial but the schedule as it stands indicates aircraft no3 so far with for example fri pm flights to Tenerife Crete and Dalaman. Of course schedules change

Two or three years ago there were persistent rumours of a third based aircraft for Thomas Cook in summer, with some suggesting that the third-party aircraft at CWL would be moved across.

With CWL's resurgence generally in the past two years that clearly isn't going to happen now, and the early CWL summer 2018 programme is also in the public domain anyway. If there is to be a third aircraft I suspect it won't be one from Thomas Cook's own fleet though.

Thomas cook have replaced their weds Palma flight with a second weekly Corfu this summer

Thomas cook officially launch their summer 2018 tomorrow. Reports of a new girona route on its way and paphos is also is in the system

That's excellent news. Nice to see the return of hurghada and a brand new route of preveza. Very good to see some expansion in the charter market. Let's see what tui brings now

I can't remember Preveza before, with any carrier.

Looking at the CAA stats the last time Hurghada operated was in 2007. It also operated in 2005 and in 2006 and possibly before that. The tour operators using the flights included Airtours, Excel Holidays and a number of others. I can't remember the carrier - possibly Excel. I think Hurghada was going to return last year with Thomson but the Egyptian situation prevented it.

Taba (unsure of carrier) also operated in 2005 and Luxor (Thomson) in 2010 and 2011. Sharm of course operated every year with 2015 the last calendar year - at times there were five Sharm flights a week with various carriers. Sharm seems pencilled in for a return later this year with Thomson.

Great news for Bristol with so much expansion but the quality of the overall press release is pathetic - some routes already running are in the new routes grid, some legitimate new routes are missed out (in the case of BHX). 'Gerona' should be 'Girona', 'Prevesa' should be 'Preveza' and 'Arecife' should be 'Arrecife'

when the air malte a320 was based it did Egypt once a week. very often it had to call into airport on route for fuel stop. the air malta as I remember was doing work for excel as I remember.the air malta base was 2 or 3 years as I remember.

That would have been for Excel. For a number of years Excel had two based aircraft at BRS. One was their own B 738 (I think possibly a B 734 before that) and the other was the Air Malta A 320. When there were up to five weekly Sharm el Sheikh flights from BRS in the late 'noughties' one of the carriers was the Egyptian airline Koral Blue with an A 319.

Looking at the released routes for summer 2018 , there is definitely a need for a 3 rd aircraft. On mon tues weds and sat one jet will fly off early and return the early hours of the following morning. So far only two gaps one on weds am and one on Sunday. Presumably they will be for Bulgaria and preveza

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
