Just a little bit of history that the older members might appreciate.

The Maglev Carriage (No 2) which has been parked on one of the old car parks on the Cargo Centre has been sold (again).

Originally sold for over 25K on e-bay (the sale fell through for some unknown reason) the carriage has now been bought by someone for £100 to go into their garden. The news broke this morning on the BBC local bulletin, and a vehicle turned up about an hour ago ready to load.

I must admit that I thought the blessed thing would fall apart when it was lifted, but it managed to stay together. The vehicle is literaly just leaving the Airport now on its journey to its new home.

Didn't BHX first have its Maglev system back in the 1980s?

I have no expert knowledge at all but I believe there are different systems of magnetic levitation. It might be thought that some would be well developed by now.

The only one I'm aware of is the line from Shanghai to Shanghai Airport that runs at up to 260 mph. My son-in-law as travelled on this on several occasions when in China on business and says it's quite an experience.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
