Brummiegem posted this linked report in the BHX thread.

The last financial statement for BRS that I can find is that for the year ending December 2018. In that year the airport's overall revenue amounted to just under £112 million of which concessions amounted to just over £31 million, which is a touch under 28% of the airport's overall revenue (the other major sources of revenue were car parking £35.5 million and aeronautical £42 million).

It's not known what percentage of the concessions income came through the duty free shop nor the contractual arrangements between the concessionaires and the airport, so trying to establish what effect if any the changes outlined in the linked report will have on airport revenue is difficult to assess from the outside.

Duty free are closing tomorrow as are most of other retail units. Too many closures to mention each individually. Hilton Hampton hotel also shutting doors finally for this lockdown having stayed open all year.

Crazy times. Never in my 18 years at the airport seen or contemplated anything like this ever happening.

Darkest before the dawn? :)

There is no food or drinks outlet open at the airport since last week. WH Smith finally called it a day as there were no movements. Only food and drinks vending machines are stocked. A sad first for the airport.

M&S Simply Food reopens tomorrow 1 March.

The old Aspire Plus lounge has been turned into an extension of the bar opposite. Whether this means Swissport have permanently closed the lounge or not I(as they haven't changed much in the interior by the looks of it) remains to be seen.

2 stores are leaving BRS airside shopping this week. SuperDrug and Claires Accessories.

Both will be replaced by Boots.

Claire Accessories has been trading airside for a long long time.

It's a shame two stores are being replaced by one. It will give the appearance of less choice even if Boots have an extensive range.

As of this week, M&S landside will be open 24 hrs
What is the M&S like? I've not seen an airport M&S outlet yet.

I noticed our local Costa have now started to sell M&S sandwiches.

It's really nice. Like a mini supermarket basically, and it's landside. It's just nice to know you can grab some basics on the way home even when arriving late at night. Best recent addition to the airport!

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
