I've tweeted easyjet ....saying it seems you are pulling out of BHX next year... this is the reply...

Hi Paul! Sorry if a particular route was dropped. I hope u'll find another route that suits your plans

???

I've also tweeted bhx and await reply.

Paul

If Easyjet think people are going to travel to London from Birmingham to fly to Belfast they must be nuts especially when Flybe do at least 6? flights a day from BHX to BHD!

We should be thankful for the privilege of sitting on the M1, waiting to get into that "wonderful" piece of London infrastructure behind the Vauxhall plant in Bedfordshire!!

It was the same when British A/W pulled out of LBA (and other UK airports) in 1980. They were telling passengers they could still fly to London on British A/W - from Manchester - even though BMA were taking over at LBA immediately.

I really hope FR pick up this route. Lack of competition on routes such as BFS and EDI seems ludicrous when you look at the demand there from BHX.

Perhaps they would do better than EZY on such routes - firstly FR are more well known at BHX, and secondly they offer something different than Flybe. Flybe offer flexibility with multiple daily rotations. Ryanair would offer less choice but much cheaper fares. EZY offered less choice of departures but generally weren't (much) cheaper than BE so it's slightly understandable that this route didn't work for them; nevertheless it's disappointing to see it go.

Easyjet from london i dont think so thanks i prefer to use my local airport

It constantly amazes me when airlines think they can effectively bully passengers into travelling to airports 60 plus miles away to use their product. Most airports have an increasing number of customers who simply wont even consider using an alternative airport if there's a similar option locally.

our discussion her about the loss of EZY is no reflection of our thoughts about BEE and what they have achieved.... I just wish that we get out of the mentality of 1x route = 1x airline...
I am all for competition on routes. My point was that Flybe rarely compete on routes with the large low cost airlines for long.If an airline wants to compete on an established route it must be willing to build up its and the overall routes figures over time. Not with the presumption that the smaller competitor will just retreat without a fight.

A poster on the Belfast thread of another forum has suggested that BFS is currently 'suspended'. They state that Easyjet are trying to squeeze a better deal from the BHX end but the airport management are not bowing down too easily so at the moment there is a stalemate.

A contingency plan is apparently being worked upon should Easyjet decide to drop it.

An interesting insight, cheers ray ...lets see what comes from it! I'm of the view that with ever other LCC having a big presence at BHX, they are certainly in a powerful place.

Just gone through Belfast May timetable and the BHX aircraft has not been allocated to another route as yet.
The gaps fit the BHX aircraft so it appears still under negotiation and if they fail they will swap either the Newcastle BFS to a BFS based and NCL gets new routes or loads of new routes for BFS it will be a massive timetable change if they pull it.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
